Elliptical Glider Workout

My question is I workout on an ellitical glider. The resistance is set a 7 out of 10, I do 2 miles in 49 minutes. I am wondering if It is better to do a fast mile as to a slower mile. I am 40 years old and in good health. I have been doing this for about a year now. I have lost 20 pounds since. But I seem to be in a plateu now. I also was wondering in anyone else's toes go numb while on the glider. I can only the workout backwards. I can't seem to do more than a half a mile forwards before my toes go numb. To painful to do even a mile. Any suggestions for that.
