I am so ready to commit to losing weight AND quitting smoking. I know these can be very difficult to do together but I want a complete lifestyle overhaul. For me, it's hard to find time to focus on meals, exercise and making the right choice when it comes to convent and easy foods. I work full time, I also go to nursing classes full time, I am a mother to 2 kids and I have a husband with just as bad eating habits myself. I tend to give in and just eat whatever is easiest and the most convient. I know I can do this. I love walking/running, I enjoy the gym once I get there and do something I just ALWAYS find an excuse as to why I can't go, like the laundry needs to be done or I need to study or I am just exhausted. I need more energy and some way to stick to it this time. Any and all advices is welcome and very much appreciated.

Welcome to WLF! Quitting smoking and losing weight does sound like at lot at once but with a lot of small changes in the right direction it is possible. There are lots of smoking cessation programs out there that you can follow. I personally stopped smoking cigarettes 2 months ago with the help of e-cigs. I started out at 18mg of nicotine and am down to 12mg and am finding that I reach for my vape pen a lot less during the day and almost not at all at night time. As for motivation to exercise, you just have to make it your priority, MORE important then laundry (Lol, with kids thats going to be tough but you have a partner to help you with that). You found a great forum full of supportive people with like minded goals! Again, Welcome, glad you found us and looking forward to watching your progress.

Hi Elizabeth & welcome to the forum. Congratulations on making the decision to improve your diet & lifestyle. Giving up smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself & your children. The forum is very active at the moment, but stick with it. Use us a sounding board. This is a very supportive & positive place & you are very welcome, xoxo Cate

Welcome Elizabeth......wishing you the very best on your weight-loss/smoke free journey!

I suggest starting with small changes.......maybe you don't have time to cook ALL meals, but you can set small goals (i.e. having at least 4 healthy main-meals a week; do at least 10,000 steps a day - track with a pedometer; have something green in EVERY MEAL; go for walks with the kids/hubby twice a week; etc.)

All it takes is willingness and commitment...life is busy and certainly overwhelming at times...but your health is a priority...it will give you QUALITY of life, and I truly believe these changes are a benefit not only for yourself, but for all of those that love and care about you!

Xoxo
