Hi everyone!
I have a question, is working out on an elliptical trainer for 30-50 minutes, 6 times a week going to help me lost 20 pounds in 6 months?

this is information about me

Age : 18 years old
Gender : Female
Weight : 130 pounds
Height : 5 feet 2 inches (62 inches)

Elliptical is the only form of Cardio I do. I haven't started weight training yet because of time restrictions.

I worked out 1st thing in the morning on an empty stomach for 15-25 minutes
and I workout one more time before i sleep for 15-25 minutes

I eat breakfast about 2-3 hours after my morning workout

I stop eating at night around 8pm, i drink lemon water with no sugar added at night.

My maximum daily caloric intake is 1400cals, and my minimum is 1200cals. I try to eat healthy as much as possible. Its really hard to eat healthy because of all the junk food out there and my family is a total junkie as well. but I am trying my best =)

I need to get my weight down to 110pounds in 6 months for my wedding and honeymoon. do you think I can get my weight down to 110pounds in 6 months by just doing what I am doing right now?
or do I need to change something?

If anyone need to additional information to answer my question feel free to ask me. I would greatly appreciate your help because losing weight for my special day means a lot to me

thank you in advance
=)

From my experience, I found that doing the "same exercise" works good at the beginning but after a short time period, the body gets too comfortable with that specific exercise. Thus, `math calculation` output of that specific exercise is no longer constant. For example: The first 4 weeks, this machine may show 400 calories burn during 30 minute time period. But on week 5,6,7 the machine's LED display still shows 400 calories burn but since your body is now "comfortable" with that specific exercise, your body might only be buring 250-300 calories (in reality). Thus, one needs to increase time on the machine - to obtain same "reality" calories burn amount.

As a suggestion, exercise many different body parts within your body. Target all body parts - from your feet (using calf raises), knees (bends / stepper machine), core (using large soft ball, push ups, situps), shoulders, neck, arms, etc. etc. By targetting different muscle groups, muscle mass is increased and even at idle, one's body burns more stored calories (re: extra body fat). And, one's specific muscle area doesn't get "too comfortable" with the same exercise (like elliptical trainer machine) during your 6 month period.

The other reality to keep in mind is the body's "most comfortable" natural body shape. For some folks, they can simply reduce a few daily carolies and their body drops immediate weight. Mostly because their body wants to remain skinny (re: smaller then normal size). For some folks (like my body), it wants to be ramain larger then normal body shape. My body has "over sized" frame and been fat for many years. Thus, its "most comfortable" natural body shape is large. I could exercise 5+ hours per day and eat a small 1,200 calories per day and my body continues to remain "large". It isn't from what I'm doing or not doing. It's because my body's "most comfortable" size is large. Larger then normal body size.

If wondering, my original "target" body weight 12 months ago was 178 lbs. Been fluxing between 181 - 185 lbs for the last 4 months. Thus, my body's most comfortable weight is between 181-185 lbs. Emotionally, I need to accept that "I did meet my target goal (for my frame size)". Perhaps its time for me to enjoy life - instead of focusing too much on trying to drive my body weight down to 175 - 178 lbs - which could be very unhealthy for my body. Long mumblings short, I need to be realistic on what my body's target weight should be (for my larger frame size). Is your target weight in 6 months a realistic target for your body as well???

Hope these help in your goal setting targets...
