Eldaweesda's Diary

Day 20

Today was a good day. I got up at 7am and made a coffee and was supposed to grab breakfast, but I decided at the last minute that I wasn't hungry and I would eat when I got back from the gym. BIG MISTAKE!!!!:ack2: As soon as I got on the Elliptical machine my stomache let out the loudest most obnoxious growl that I have ever heard!:cuss: I should have known not to leave the house with out eating breakfast. I managed to make it through 30 min at level 11 and then I got bored. I decided that I would finally get on the "Transformer". I put it to level 6 and started grooving to my ipod. I got my heart rate up to 160bpm in no time and I didn't feel very fatigued so I kept going strong for 15min. This completed my 45 min cardio for the day. The next time I have cardio, I am going to try 45min on the Transformer machine and see if I can handle it.:willy_nilly: I decided not to go with my husband tonight for a power walk. I am still stuffed from our Easter Roast beef dinner. I have weight training tomorrow and that will take care of my large dinner, (hopefully!)

Thanks for stopping by Heather, Brandy and Kimberly I hope you all had a great weekend.

I'm going to go now and read my sunday paper. Until tomorrow

Go Blue!!!!!!!!:hurray:

Nice job working out on Easter! What is the transformer? I don't think I have ever used that. I generally use the elliptical so I'm curious if it's similar in nature as I have a bad hip and can't really run or even walk too much as the pressure on the joints is too much.

Hi Priti,

I don't know the exact name of the machine, my personal trainer named it the "Transformer" because it kind of looks like it envelops you like the transformer Toys? It is a cross between a elliptical and a stairmaster. You can use it bouncing up and down like stairs or you can use the arms which gives you a workout similar to cross country skiing. Great work out and no joint pressure! I like it because it gets my heart rate up there quick like the elliptical and there is minimal pressure on your joints. It is made by Precor and they are brand new to the gym that I work out at.

Thanks for stopping by, Have a great day!

Day 21

Today has been a good day. The kids and I had a little bit of a sleep in, til 8:30am. We all had our cereal, (including me!) I had Fibre One Honey Oat flakes and the kids had their usual, Cheerios, Fibre One Flakes and Strawberry Bran Flakes. We then went to the gym for my weight training. I worked on my upper body today. I won't write down my routine as I have in previous diary entries. I had a hard time getting my heart rate up there again today, so this means it's time for my personal trainer to change my routine. I jogged on the treadmill for 3 x 5 min intervals again and the highest heart rate was 164bpm, that is down from 176bpm I guess that means my heart is getting accustomed to cardio on the treadmill. That's good because I feel like I can jog for longer only if the pain in my ankles would subside. It's not in the budget for new runners this month so I will have to wait until next month. My husband decided he wanted to take the night off from our power walk, so he didn't have to twist my arm! I complied willingly. Tomorrow I have a personal training appointment at 4:30pm and I hope she had changed my routine, I hope to work on my lower body.

Kind of a boring entry today. Go Blue!!!!!

I agree!! I love reading about your workouts.

I don't work that hard in front of her because then she will try to push me to work even harder! I got her made. I know what she is all about! After seeing me today, I think I'm busted though.
:smilielol5:I love that! ^^^

I thought you might like to know that you inspired me to finally get back to doing some body weight exercises myself. And I did do the one minute plank! :hurray:Trouble is once I found out that I could do it I had to keep doing it - just like you!! I think I pop my bottom up a bit higher now than during the first one though because afterwards I read something about that being safer for novices and people with back problems. I don't know if I really fit into those categories or not. It does make it easier, and I do feel like my back's a bit safer. During the first minute I feel like I need to be careful to make sure I'm staying at the edge of what I can do - and during the next 2 I wonder where I ever got that idea from before I collapse!! :ack2: At any rate, after I finish them each time, I'm really happy I started those exercises again. They do make me feel good. Thanks for the push! :D

Day 22

I missed posting yesterday, I just couldn't get organized!:willy_nilly:
Yesterday I did have personal training and I told my trainer that I was bored of the current routine and felt unchallenged so I wanted a new set of exercises. I thought she would take that info and for my next training session she would have new exercises. Well, I thought wrong!:ack2: Is she ever good on her toes, she decided that she would change it for me on the spot. So I did lower body and this is what we tried (just to see if it challenged me enough) ME AND MY BIG MOUTH!!!!!

Bosu lunge with 12lb dumbells-------------3 sets of 15
Butt Blaster, 10lb dumbell------------------3 sets of 20
Reverse Crunch------------------------------3 sets of 15

cardio on the treadmill, incline 8-9 at 3.5mph---------3 sets of 4min

Squat machine 20lb bar bell----------------------------3 sets of 15
oblique crunches on floor-------------------------------3 sets of 15
side plank------------------------------------------------3 sets of 15sec-30sec

cardio on Transformer, level 6-------------------------3 sets of 4min

my cardio is lower with my trainer as we only have 1 hour. This new routine that she set up on the fly just about killed me!:banghead: But this is what I wanted, more of a challenge. I thought the planks were tough! Well, the side planks were almost impossible. My goal is to do and maintain 30sec 3 sets, I'll keep trying, hopefully I don't fracture my spine or anything like that! Reverse crunches! oh, my did I ever feel like an idiot! I carry all my weight around my middle and with this exercise you have your feet up in the air as you lay on your back and you attempt to raise your lower body off the ground while keep your legs straight up in the air without rocking! This was next to impossible, but by the third set I was getting the hang of it. My trainer said it is hard at first but with practice I will be a pro in no time. What a joke that is, she has more faith in my abilities than I do I must say that! My husband and I did our 3 km powerwalk last night as well. That is why I found that I didn't have time to write in my diary. By the time we got home it was 7:30pm and I wanted to have a warm bath and Biggest Loser was on at 8pm. I love that show. It really motivates me to see their weight loss. Although, it probably is very bad for their bodies to be working out for 4hours a day, but I still look forward to it every week. The girls beat the guys for the first time in a long time and I was so excited to see the underdogs take one for the girls for once!:smash:

Felici, Thanks for visiting my diary. I am glad that I have inspired you to start weight training again. See, you can do planks! If I can do them, I feel anyone can! Believe me, I have the core strength of a sponge! Keep with it, your metabolism will kick into high gear and the pounds will start dropping. Go Blue, Go Blue!!!! Yeah!!!

Today, I will be going back to the gym at 4pm as I worked today in the morning. I am going to do upper weight training. I know I already did upper on Monday, Lower on Tues and today upper again.. I usually only do three days a week of weight training, but the Easter Holidays kind of mixed up my schedule. One extra day of weight training won't kill me. Or will it?:puke We shall see tomorrow, If I can get out of bed! I am still planning on going for my 3km with hubby tonight, that is if it doesn't snow again like it did this morning!!!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone! Go Blue!!!!:seeya:

Cheers

Day 24

Missed a diary entry yesterday. In fact I did not work out yesterday as I was ill with the stomache flu. Today, too I woke up and I had a headache like a hangover! So I didn't make it to the gym today either. I was feeling better tonight after dinner and my husband and I went for our 3km walk. I am hoping that tomorrow morning is a go for weight training as I don't want to miss to many more workouts. I don't like to be off my workout routine for more than 3 days as it's like starting over physically. I am hoping for a weight loss for tomorrow's Summer Solstice Challenge, but I am not overly optimistic.

Good luck with the weigh in Blue team!!

Aha--I went to youtube and found plank videos..lol. I haven't tried it yet, but will tomorrow. I hate pushups, and have a hard time keeping butt from sticking out, so I think those will kill me...lmao. :ack2:

I hope your flu and headache are gone so you can get back to having your trainer kick your butt. :D

Day 25

I woke up this morning still feeling a little under the weather, but not too sick to go to the gym.:cuss: So I sat down with the kids and had a healthy breakfast of some new organic Flax seed type cereal which tasted like horse chow!:puke: But after a few bites it got to be tolerable. I also managed to ingest TWO cups of coffee (just for that extra pick me up I knew I would need!) Then we went to the gym. I was supposed to do my upper body weight training today but I chose to do my cardio instead as I just didn't feel like moving around much. So I chose the new "Transformer Machine" which is actually called AMT by Precor. It is basically like cross country skiing if you use it to it's maximum capacity, which I did. I chose fat burn and kept it at level 6 on low then it kicked up to level 8 for 5min in intervals. I did this for 45 min and had a average heart rate of 150bpm. I felt this was pretty good considering I'm still not feeling too well. Being sick does have it's advantages though, I got on the scale after my shower and I am down 2lb from last weeks weigh in! Yeah! I guess that's what happens when your on the pot for two days!:( I hope everyone on the Blue team had a wonderful week!

Bikini - I'm glad you found videos of the plank. My instructions probably were pretty confusing. You can do it! Just be very careful to keep your back as straight as possible. I try to concentrate on keeping my stomache clenched as tight as possible and my elbows (biceps) holding strong as well, this keeps strain off my back. I tried a new plank exercise on tuesday and I must say it gave me a sore back for Two days! It was a side plank and I was only able to do it for 15-30 sec. I'll keep working on it, hopefully this is strengthening my core! I hope it is not a lot of back torture for nothing!:banghead:

Until tomorow, Have a great weekend everyone!:seeya:

Congrats on being down two pounds this week!!!!!! Looks like all your hard work is paying off (not your trips to the "pot"). I'm going to also have to look up the plank and see if I can do it.....sounds challenging. Not going to check now as I have to be at work in an hour and dont want to spend my last hour practicing planks :). Have a great day!

Day 26

Great Day today! I had a little sleep in then got up ate some Horse Chow and two coffees then went to the gym. I did upper body today and upped my weights as I don't get my routine changed until Monday. I am so proud of myself too, cause I actually jogged at 5.0 mph on the treadmill in between sets for 5 of the 6 sets -----that's 25 min!!!! My heart rate only got up to 163bpm max and my ankles only hurt a little.. My cardio day is tomorrow and I am going to try to jog for 15min consecutive, see if I can do it.

So I got 30 min in total of cardio 25 on treadmill and 5 on elliptical level 12.
it took me about 40 min to complete my weight training routine.

When I got home, my husband had fed the kids lunch and we decided to go to the local indoor pool and went swimming. What fun! We had a blast and I got to model my new bathing suit. I felt very confident in it and I am so glad I bought it. I can't wait until it is too big, hopefully by the summer so I can buy a newer - sexier one!:biggrinjester:

We are having a yummy dinner tonight, Lime Garlic BBQ chicken breast, Rice Pilaf and mixed veggies and Greek Salad! can't wait. Then my husband and I are going for our 3km walk and we are going to stop by the local store and buy 1 small bag of chips and 1 diet pop each. Tonight is movie night for my husband and I and I can't wait to splurge!:drool5: Yeah!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Go Blue!!!!:seeya:

Day 27

I DID IT!!!!

I Tried jogging for 15min at 5.0mph and I did it!!!! First I did cardio on the "Transformer" at fat burn level 5 and 6 for 25min then I got on the treadmill and went for broke. I really amazed myself. My heart rate was steady at between 157 and 163 bpm. My ankles and shins hurt as usual but not as bad as I thought they would? So I have decided that I will try to jog for 30 min the next cardio day - which is Tuesday. All I can do is try and see how it goes.

When I got home from the gym it was time for spring cleanup in the yard. I spend about 3 hours pulling weeds, trimming bushes and bagging yard waste!:ack2: My back hurts already and it's not even the next day!!!:cuss:

I feel like I had a very productive day, exercisely speaking. Yes I know exercisely is not a word, I think it sounds cool.

I can't wait to keep trying at jogging, I have a feeling it's gonna make the pounds drop off!:sifone:

Gotta go and read my Sunday paper (what a nerd eh?)

Until tomorrow, GO BLUE TEAM!!!!! YEAH!!!!

Day 28

I had a killer personal training session today. Me and my big mouth!!!!:ack2:
I asked my trainer to change my workouts as they were no longer challenging me and by that I mean I didn't feel any muscle fatigue after my workouts.

Well, did she ever work my butt off today!!!!! Lucky, I had some high fibre Horse Chow for breaky and 1 coffee. This is what my new lower body routine is:

Side/45degree/Front Lunges holding 10lb dumbells---3 sets of 8-10 reps.
Stairs 4X-------------------------------------------------3 sets

in between sets ---- 2 min cardio treadmill 4.5mph at 2.0 incline

Smith Sumo Squat 20lbs ------------------------------3 sets of 20 rep.
Butt Blasters 12lb dumbell-----------------------------3 sets of 20-25 rep.

in between sets -----2 min cardio on treadmill 4.5mph at 2.0 incline

Reverse Crunch------------------------------------------ 4 sets of 20 reps.
Side Planks----------------------------------------------- 3 sets of 30 seconds.

in between sets------2 min cardio on treadmill 4.5 mph at 2.0 incline

It was a very sweaty workout and my legs were very fatigued. I hope I can move tomorrow!!!!:banghead:

3km power walk with hubby tonight. Stew for dinner.

Until tomorrow, have a great day everyone.

I hereby declare you the plank queen and bow down to you. :D

Yes, I tried the planks yesterday. The :reddevil: himself must've invented those to torture us. I do not know how you can hold one for an entire minute. The most I can do is about 10 seconds, and even then, I was shaking the whole time..lmao. :willy_nilly:

Congrats on losing 2lbs last week! :hurray:

Hey Elda! I am SO IMPRESSED with your workouts! I can only hope that someday I can be counting myself amongst those as fit as you are! Always glad to stop by your diary - you are so positive and your workouts absolutely kick butt!

Well, just got back from my power walk. It was crisp out tonight but the sun was still up and it was truly a beautiful spring evening. I burned my mouth on my stew tonight!:cuss: It was so good I just couldn't wait for it to cool down! what a glutton!!! My kids actually ate their whole dinner as well. This was a new recipe and my family says it's a keeper. Gotta love "The Joy of Cooking" guess thats why it's been around for 75years.

BB- Thanks for the visit. I'm glad you tried the planks. They are very hard and I don't recommend them if you have a bad back. :angelsad2: I find them a challenge, in fact my trainer has changed my routine to include Side Planks which will be the death of me!:puke: I told her I wanted a challenge - NOT TO DIE OF EXTREME PAIN! Congrats on your loss as well, Blue is gonna win, I can see it now!

Heather: Baby steps, that is the key. When I started working with a personal trainer, they tested my strength and flexibility before hand so they knew my strengths and weaknesses. They started me out very slowly and then gradually started to throw in the occasional hard exercise, just to see if I could do it. I would never do half of these exercises on my own, but because my trainer is challenging me to do them, I do it. She is worth every penny and more. I am lucky, I only pay half price for my sessions because I work at the fitness club, in the childcare.

Trusylver - Thanks for your support, gosh I love this forum!
GO BLUE!!!!:seeya:
