Eggs in the morning 'aid weight loss

People who eat eggs for breakfast could be giving themselves a greater chance of losing weight, according to a scientific study.

Research at Louisiana State University asked some overweight women who were already on a low-fat diet to eat two eggs for breakfast for eight weeks, while others ate a bagel 1 in the morning.

Doesn't one bagel contain more calories than two eggs? If so, it is not surprising that the egg eaters lost more weight than the bagel eaters.

great ideas guys, thanks.

microwave: how long? 1 min?
I think it's about a minute, I usually just look at it and see when it looks cooked, it really isn't long though so keep an eye out in case it cooks quicker than that (or if you have a powerful microwave)

I just rode my scooter down to the college farm and bought me some farm fresh eggs! This thread really made me want them. And... I kind of wanted to see how eggs survive in the under-seat compartment of a Vespa.

I usually crack 3-4 eggs in a bowl, mix it up. Shake some pepper in there and slice up some veggies, then let it microwave for 2- 2 1/2 minutes.

I won't eat eggs....every time you eat an egg, it's one less chicken that could have been born into the world. At some point we each have to ask ourselves a fundamental question: are we Pro-Chicken or Egg-Rights? :D

Eggs are cool, even though they utterly remove any possiblity of having low-odor burps & farts as they traverse our digestive roller-coaster.

YES, you can microwave eggs quite easily. I like to scramble them...then, depending on the power of your microwave, it generally takes 45 seconds to a minute to get the job done. Another good idea is to find some low-fat turkey, chicken or whatever meat you like breakfast links; cut little chunks of meat into the scrambled egg and even add onion, tomatoes n' other stuff.

As for the topic of this thread....I'm quite skeptical of all these findings. "They" said the same thing about yogurt and how the CLA and other stuff was effective in particularly reducing abdominal fat. Just eat healthy, well-balanced and to lose fat eat less then you need.

The eggs you buy from the store don't have zygotes in them, they are unfertilized...that would kinda be a nasty thought while eating eggs " i'm eating an unborn baby yum "

I usually eat my eggs (organic, naturally) raw and whole (we don't have salmonella in our eggs, and if we do, then I'm immune to it.).

If I do decide to "cook" them, they get scrambled and I add a whole bunch of goodies to them. Yummy.

Yes, most eggs in the grocery store are unfertilized, but that shouldn't be the concern. It's how they treat the poor chickens and what they feed them. Eggs from an abused and poorly fed chicken have less nutritional value than eggs from a free range chicken fed a well balanced natural/organic diet.

I feel better about eating eggs now that we have chickens of our own. There's no question about what goes into them since we feed the chickens ourselves. They also get to be outside and do what chickens like to do. There's no rooster around so that means no fertile eggs or potential chicks.

Be careful when buying eggs at some grocery stores. You don't want to buy balut by mistake if you prefer regular eggs.

EGGS---> to the friggen rescue!

What do you call an excited Hen?

Hen-thusiastic! Baby!.........And she steps forward to wake the Chillen up!

Poultry in motion can create quite the commotion! :jump1:

Check out what my wife did:

On FRY-day, my wife, leaves the shell station to EGGS-plore Chillen's problem:

At the quack of dawn, she spiced up Chillen with severe EGG-ERCISE!

And, took him to school to get EGG-UCATED, and she kept yelling and EGG-ed Chillen on! Yea! What a frigggggggen, wife! :)

She kept telling Chillen:

Always keep yourself EGG-ucated, EGG-ercise regularly, and you always keep yourself EGG-ed UP!

EGG-sactly!

Chillen became so EGG-ed up, he became Eggs-traterrestrial with ROCK ON syndrome, he became scrambled with motivation for life!

My wife..........saved the day! Chillen continues to be all BUZZED UP with Rock on's! Yes!

The Eggs-traordinary and special spouse, baby! ;)

ROCK ON! HE, he, he,

oh...insert a smiley here, he, he...:)

Much peace and happiness to all! Yes....spread the SH@t!

Let the feeling wrap you deep inside! Feel it!

Man, that is gross.

I could totally see myself accidentally buying that, crack open one to eat and see this little lifeless embryo fall out and be like wtf

It wasn't that long ago, when a different viewpoint was floating around concerning the mighty and powerful, egg.

Read this Article by John Berardi (PHd, CSCS):

Last week a study (sometime during the late summer 2007) was reported on, a study suggesting that eating more than 7 eggs per week can lead to premature death.

Uh, oh. I eat about 21 whole eggs a week (3 per day).

So I guess I should be dead already.

But instead of getting worried, I'm chuckling. Laughing at the absurdity of it all.

You see, this idea, the idea that natural foods like eggs, lean meats, soybeans, whole grain cereals, etc. can inherently be bad for us, is so absurd that the only thing an intelligent person can do is chuckle.

First of all, the "egg study" is flawed and virtually meaningless.

Second of all, the media has it all wrong about the "goodness" or "badness" of specific foods. You see, very, very few foods either qualify as good or bad.

Instead, it's our own physiological environment that sets the stage for how the food reacts within our bodies. Control the environment and the food part becomes ridiculously simple.

If you've ever been confused by the seemingly contradictory nutrition information out there, you've got to check out this week's article.

Here is the article:

Good vs Bad Food
It's Time To Grow Up
