Easy food

I am currently trying to find some sort of lean meat + complex carb recipe that can be slapped together in mass with little effort.

I know that tuna/chicken are great protiens, but I cannot find a way to prepare tuna to make it tasty, and chicken is somewhat expensive for a student to have multiple times a day.

Anyone have a good recipe that may work well here?

Tuna sweetcorn wrap.

Some people wont do this because of the fat in the mayo. I use only 1 spoon of light mayo for 1 tin of tuna, and use a bit of tommy for the rest of the mix, you can add a bit of cheese, and sweet corn.

Wrap it up with some red peppers and you got a protien rich snack that will last up to 5hours out of the fridge.

Beef jerky is also good.
If I'm going out for the day and dont know where I'll be eatting i take a shaker with protien powder in it. If the worst comes to the worst, you can always find a bottle of water to mix it up. There really is no reason not to get all the protien and carbs you need in a day.

I 'prepare' tuna (white albacore, not that nasty chunk light crap) by rinsing it off. that's it. sometimes its outta the can,s ometimes I add peas, carrots and brown rice and nuke it.

cottage cheese = zero preparation, just measure and eat.

cook meat for several days...IE a whole package of chicken should net you 4-6 meals worth.

Turkey ham!

just roll up some thin turkey ham slices together for a protein snack when you're on the go. You can add your complex carbs inside the roll too.. turkey's my fav but tuna's definitely the cheapest protein out there. The canned stuff is nasty, i agree, but you can get the ones in the pouch and i promise you it makes a world of difference.

Also, some salmon pouches are same priced as the tuna ones. Fresh water fish taste much more pleasant than tuna and the likes.

Can't get much easier than crockpot cooking. I've posted a few recipes in this area of the forum that use one. The easiest that comes to mind is the chicken, black beans, corn, salsa and nonfat cream cheese.

5 Frozen Chicken Breasts,
1 Can Corn (No Salt Added preferably), drained
1 Can Baked Beans, drained
1 Larger Jar Salsa, (I prefer hot)
1 Bar Cream Cheese, nonfat

Put the chicken in first, then the other ingredients. Put your crockpot on High and let it cook for 3-5 hours. (When I do it in my rival 5.5 qt crockpot I've been trying 3 hours with good results.) Stir everything around about halfway through, and then as needed to keep things even. In the last half hour of cooking add the cream cheese. At the end of cooking, stir everything up a bit, and you're done.

1 can (approximately 7 ounces) tuna, drained
3 tablespoons teaspoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
dash of Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons chili sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 small cucumber, optional

Use some low fat mayonase or just use only one tablespoon instead. unique taste but very nice and can be stored in the fridge to use on sandwhiches amongst other things.

Stingo that sounds good! But I will use fresh raw chicken I suppose you don't brown your chicken at all, I suppose that way (raw) is fine as well. Sounds good though!, Thanks for sharing.
