Dylan's Diary

so I'm going to have to figure out some home work outs or something.

What equipment do you have at home ? in addition to your own bodyweight. Do you have any health problems or injuries which may have an effect on your ability to exercise ? You are young and should be able to achieve a lot in a relatively short period of time.

I honestly have no exercise equipment at home except for a treadmill, but I might actually do some strength exercises like push ups, planks, sit ups, and stuff like that. Nope, I don't have any injuries or health conditions.

What I used to LOVE doing as a kid, was exercising in front of the TV. Instead of sitting on the couch I was aaaalways on the hometrainer (sometimes doing nothing and sometimes eating but hey, I was like 11 at the time lol). For me it helped a lot and its what I plan on doing when I get new exercise equipment myself. :)

For the most part, I would say that today was although a lazy-ish day than my normal routine, I would still consider today a very successful day. Anyone can drop a diet and pick up a case of soda and Doritos and call it quits, but not me! I'm still hanging strong, as my body and mind is still very new to this healthy eating lifestyle that I'm committed too.
That´s great and exactly what´s going to get you all the way to the finish (and beyond).
Also: I love Fitmencook! Kevin is so positive and inclusive - and of course he puts out a ton of very diverse, simple recipes.

Yeah, I did the same when I was a kid, but I would just always eat the wrong stuff. I was pretty active honestly during my childhood, but I would always eat the wrong foods or (unhealthy), and no one ever really taught me how to be healthy, or at least I think haha. My mom would always tell me to eat my greens, but I refused, and she let me get away with it.

I just thought of them as nasty food, but now that I'm older, I come to realize eating veggies was so crucial to your health and how it helps you grow. I mean, I'm pretty tall about sitting at 6ft 2, but still. If I would of been more cautious of what I ate, and knew the risks to where I am now, I'd give anything to go back in time. If I ever have children, best believe they will learn about food health and such.

That´s great and exactly what´s going to get you all the way to the finish (and beyond).

Yes, I discovered Kevin yesterday, and saw one of his epic $75 meal prep haul which was just awesome to watch. Awesome recipes and ideas, I will definitely be giving some of his stuff a try.

6/20/19:

Today was a pretty successful day. I did a lot of house work, and walked the dogs for 5.6 miles in about 2 hours the entire time, so I think I burned about 1,000 ish maybe more calories today according to a few different "distance walked/calories burned" calculators online.

Breakfast:
Banana
Water

Lunch:
Chicken Stir-Fry
Brown Rice
Water

Snack:
Greek Yogurt

Dinner:
Trout Fillet
Oats w/ Peanut Butter
Unsweetened Iced Tea
Whey Protein

I really thought today was a great success, and I have a busy day ahead of me tomorrow helping my sister move, so I will definitely be hauling a lot of stuff tomorrow, along with college tomorrow as well. I also went to the store and picked up some more healthy goodies! Picked up some fruit slices, more oats because I ran out, boneless chicken breasts, coconut oil, some good yogurts, and such.

Tomorrow might be a very busy day, and I don't have anything cooked up for tomorrow as I'm about to go to bed here in a little bit. Might have to swing somewhere and order a salad.

Sounds like a good day indeed! If you do order a salad make sure it has something substantial in it, preferably with protein. Moving, college, AND eating very little can make it hard not to overeat when you do get home and sit down.

I also grew up with really bad food habits, soda, chips and hotdogs were the standard! Its so hard to make the change, but once you get into a routine and that stuff starts to filter out of your body, I have found that you will feel SO much better! Then it just takes making that same good decision over and over and over (and over) again, which is the really hard part! Glad you found some great resources online and looking forward to hearing more about your journey.

Having some protein with your banana at breakfast would make it more substantial. I would also add a teaspoon of almond meal for extra protein. It's good to see you getting into the swing of things, Dylan.

6/21/19:

Well, today was a really busy day. I helped my sister move out of her place and into her new and my goodness she had a lot of furniture. It was definitely a nice activity for me, so I'm not complaining!

Other than that, today was pretty successful so here is what I had today.

Breakfast:
Oats w/ Banana Slices
Water
Whey

Lunch:
Chicken Salad
Pistachios
Yogurt
Water

Dinner:
Chicken Breast
Brown Rice
Pineapple Chunks
Unsweetened Iced Tea

Weight: 355

I was pretty happy when I stepped on the scale today, last week I was 357, and now I currently weight 355. When I first started healthy eating, I was 362, so I'm definitely making progress I would say, as I'm very happy with this weeks results. Now that this week is coming to a close, next week it's time to turn things up a notch with more activity!

I'm definitely glad to be seeing progress!

Just wanted to take the time and appreciate everyone who has followed along with my diary, and those who have made suggestions. I can assure you I appreciate the feedback more than you can imagine.

Good for you, that is great progress and congrats on controlling your eating and getting your sister moved today! Keep up the good work.

Welcome, Dylan! You are making great progress already. I know eating is my biggest culprit right now. I'm not eating the greatest of stuff and will be revamping my diet! Looking forward to reading your posts.

Thank you very much for the response and positivity!

6/22/19:

Well guys, I had a little bit of a splurge day and I don't think I went to overboard.

Breakfast:
Nothing, I was in a rush to work :(

Lunch:
Chicken Salad
Water
Crystal Light Lemonade

Dinner:
2 Italian sausages on a bun
1 cheese burger on a bun
Kidney bean salad
Potato Salad
Water

I definitely ate a lot of bread and meat today, but I don't think it's to bad considering I didn't have much calories throughout the day. I was really late for work and couldn't fix anything before I left. During lunch, I had a nice delicious salad, and when I got home from work, family was having a cook out, so I enjoyed myself tonight to make up for today's calories and such.

I would still consider today a successful day, as I didn't really go to overboard on splurge day and I'm definitely going to pick up the pace tomorrow. Give the dogs a nice long walk, do some more cardio, and maybe do a bunch of sit ups and push ups!

Also, someone happened to me today that wasn't so great. I was working on my uncles old ford 1979 dump drunk in his back yard and was welding on galvanized metal. Knowing the idiot I can be sometimes, I went ahead and welded on galvanized metal and inhaled a lot of fumes and got sick from galvanized poisoning and it was absolutely the most brutal experience. My eyes were burning and I was about to drop to the floor because I felt dizzy and nauseous. I'm feeling okay now, but I still feel a little nauseous but it's slowly calming down.

Oh, Dylan. Taking care of your health means so much more than taking care of your diet. Will you wear a mask next time & goggles? Please!

What Cate said. I work with elderly people and that kind of stuff is what they´re sorry about now that they´re struggling with lung conditions/diminishing eyesight/hearing loss.

That may be the single most important thing to learn to keep your weight at a healthy level long-term. It´s so easy to overeat by a day´s worth of food in one sitting.

Yeah, we only live on this planet for so long, and I definitely wanted to enjoy some delicious cook out food, because we rarely EVER have cook outs. However, I'm done with sodas, Gatorade, and sugary drinks like that. If I'm going to splurge, I will be eating the calories, and not drinking it. Now that my splurge meal has came and went, now it's time to jump back on healthy eating and keep making progress. Last Friday, I weighed in at 355 pounds, and I originally started at 363 when I first started this healthy eating journey which was about 3-4 weeks ago I believe. I've had a splurge meal at least once a week without going to crazy.

Just need to keep eating right, keep moving, and be smart. Hopefully by next Friday I will drop another 2 pounds and I'm expecting to weigh in around 353 or maybe even less!
