Okay, so I'm just basically going to post my starting stats, and will try to get pictures up at some point to show future progress (fingers crossed!)

START
WEIGHT: 147.8 lbs
HEIGHT: 5'0"
BUST: 36"
WAIST: 29"
HIPS: 37"
BMI: 28.9 (I'm apparently in the overweight bordering on obese category, but you wouldnt be able to tell by looking at my fully clothed body. I definitely look chubby, but not "obese")

I guess I should give a little background info on my weight loss and what has led me to this point. I have been slim and athletic for almost my entire life. I never worried about looking fat, and I had much higher self esteem. Starting around grade 9, I steadily began gaining about 5 pounds a year, which doesn't sound like much, and at first it wasn't noticeable, so I didnt worry about it. Last year (grade 11) I stopped playing sports quite as competively. My exercise was cut down from 5 nights of cardio per week to once or maybe twice if I was lucky. From that point on, my weight basically exploded. I went from 115 up to my current 147.5 in a matter of 18 months. Not only do I hate the way I look physically, but I also feel like crap all the time. The weight has prevented me from wearing the cute clothes I used to (due to chubby thighs and stretch marks all over my legs!!!!) and I basically just sit in front of the TV all the time, not wanting to go out with friends because I spend the whole night adjusting my shirt to make sure my pooch isn't visible, lol.
I have decided to devote the next 3 months (my summer break) entirely to weight loss. I'm not expecting to lose all the 40 pounds I gained over the past few years in this short time, but it will hopefully be a good start. I'm not a newbie to exercise, so that part shouldn't be too difficult, however I know the nutrition will be much harder.

I've always eaten ALOT of food (way more than was ever healthy for my size), and it's usually junky. I could get away with it when I was a competitive athlete, but now that I'm not doing sports all the time, I really have to pay attention to what goes into my body, which I know will be a tough challenge for me.

Congrats on taking the first step! :D

I always find that after a week or two of eating healthy foods, I no longer crave junk, and instead it actually makes me a bit sick to even think about eating things like chocolate, fast food, etc. This might happen to you, too. It's all about making it through the first week or so. :p

One of the most important things I've learned after several years or yo-yo dieting is not to deprive yourself. It almost always leads to bingeing. Instead, allow yourself to have small portions of things you crave. It is a tough thing to master after letting yourself eat whatever you want for so long, but it can be done. Try to take a relaxed approach to this and not expect quick, drastic weight loss or you might get discouraged. Your life is going to go by no matter if you're losing weight quickly or slowly, so as long as the number is going down, you are doing a fantastic job! :)

Excited to hear more from you.

For dinner tonight I ate a homemade chicken burger on wholegrain bread with a bid of miracle whip, a pear, and a glass of ice water.
I also walked my dog for almost 2 hours (!) since it was so nice out, and I ran on the elliptical for 30 minutes earlier. I think today went pretty well, but I hope my motivation doesn't die out after a week or two.
