Oh my god, there is this program called 'Downsize me' where they go in, make fat lumps get off their ass, eat properly and exercise.
They tell them all the good oils and bad oils saga etc but neglect to mention calories or educate them at all most of the time so the user eventually regains all the weight after the show.
Anyway, they now have a new show, and i saw the opening credits and thought 'oh its that Downsize me show' .
There was this HUGE mamoth samoan chick - and she was WAY bigger than i ever was at my biggest, and her kids were overweight, her husband was overweight (though he was the skinnyest of them all), and even their dog was overweight ... but hang on ... why are they filming the dog so much ... oh ...what?!?!

Screw the hugely overweight humans in the house who are killing themselves with food, but lets focus on a slightly overweight dog. The dog gets 3 eggs for breakfast, KFC once a week, chinese takeaways 2 more times a week, battered fish and chips another time ... yeah the dog is overweight ...

Im flabbergasted that this family of immense obesity has the gall to go on TV because they are worried about their dog being overweight. They are crying at the end because they are so happy that the dog wont just drop dead anymore because it lost weight and gets exercise ...*SLAP*....

They eat takeaways 5 nights a week (at least) .... absolutly gobsmacked!
 
pets are important but it's amazing to me that people seem care more about their pets than they do about their children...
 
on any given day, I probably am more attentive to Ginger Kitty's health than my own - so I can understand that -but not caring about what you're doing to your kids - or caring more about the dog than your little apple dumpling... well - that's just all kinds of dumb.

A well-known panhandler continued to ask for help at a busy intersection in the Loop today during the lunchtime rush to find his dog Reba more than a week after she was stolen.

"She is truly my best friend and my family," Tom Finley said at the corner of LaSalle and Madison Streets. "I know she's ready to come home to me."

Finley, 69, held a flier with his dog's photo and asked passersby if they had seen his beloved pooch. The last time that Finley saw Reba, she was outside a McDonald's at South Franklin Street and West Jackson Boulevard on Sept. 7.

He says that 12-year-old Reba, a blond husky/terrier mix with a limp, was taken because someone believed he couldn't care for her. Finley currently has an apartment but is often homeless. He had left the dog alone while he went into the restaurant.

Finley is a fixture on the Loop corner and can often be seen toting Reba around town in a trailer hooked to his bicycle.

He is a loving owner who always makes sure Reba is comfortable, said Barb Head, who works downtown.

"I've seen him down here with Reba all the time," she said this afternoon after talking to Finley. "I'm at near tears over this. Whoever took her is breaking his heart."

On Tuesday, the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago stepped in to reunite Finley and his dog by offering the 30-pound canine a lifetime of free veterinary care.

"In this case, we'd like to help little Reba get home to Tom," said Dr. Gene Mueller, president of the Anti-Cruelty Society.

If he gets her back, Finley promised he will never let Reba out of his sight again.

"She's not going to be by herself one second," he said. "No more."

Finley has been living in a studio apartment on the North Side for about four months, he said. Receiving about $600 a month from Social Security, he has been able to scrape together the $550 rent. Inside, he's got Reba's medicine and a 50-pound bag of food.

"She's got a big fluffy bed waiting for her," Finley added.

Numerous city residents have vouched for Finley and asked the Anti-Cruelty Society to help.Finley and his dog have been a "fixture downtown for numerous years," Mueller said. "It's clear that he has a very special relationship with Reba."

The society offers veterinary care to the pets of low-income families for reduced prices, Mueller said. Since the 1920s, it has run a charity veterinary clinic through donations. It has seven veterinarians on staff.

If people need help providing food for their pets, the society can help them with that as well, he said.

None of the three large shelters in the city had seen Reba as of Tuesday afternoon, Mueller said.

Whoever has Reba can contact the Anti-Cruelty Society, 157 W. Grand Ave., with no questions asked, he said. The society will even arrange to pick up the dog. Call 312-644-8338.

The dog went missing more than a week ago, but Tom Finley refuses to give up hope.

Many people have inquired about making donations to a reward fund for the dog, and Kathy Harrod, a money manager at Oakridge Investments, gave Finley a prepaid cell phone to field calls in the search.

the panhandler's in the Loop tend to be invisible people - and get ignored by the majority - but a missing dog? all of a sudden - visibility...

On any given day, I tend to prefer animals to people, who knew the rest of the world felt the same way...
 
Wow every dog I have ever owned, when giving those kinds of foods (table foods I call it)goes right through them so I don't see how they are getting over weight from table foods BUT if the dog is getting fed lot's of dry dog food I can see getting big.My dog now I can tell when the kids sneak him food because when I walk him it's more like 7-10 stops instead of the 2-3 lol.
I saw a show that had to do with overweight kids which we need more shows and education on that but it was called "honey we are killing the kids"and I agreed and disagreed on things like the 1st week they were trying the to get the kids to eat squid,shrimp,noting but fishy thing that when through together in the skillet looked like BLAH how about starting the kids off with baked chicken,turkey or even cod something not so slimy?I couldn't and wouldn't eat the stuff this mom was preparing.:rolleyes:
 
our cat got fat, hes lazy because he got fat, we just fed him less - if he wants more hes gonna have to hunt for it which means exercise, if he doesnt hunt he still gets skinnier from eating less.
So she went from 1 xup of cat food a day to 1/2 - looks nice and trim now :D
 
oh yeah, we dunno what sex our cat is - in case you picked up the he/she thing ... she was stray and adopted us and we never asked the vet lol.
its been fixed whatever it was - so technically its an "it"
 
Our cat will wake us up by 6am most mornings wanting to be fed. When we go out feed her she still has food in her dish from the day before!! She just wants to make sure we don't forget and probably wants us to wake up and play with her.

She's overweight especially since she's a relatively small cat. We've cut her food back to 3/4 of a cup and she likes to try and wake us up even more now. It also helps that she's no longer living with 3 boys who like to sneak her people food.
