Don't want my cup-size to be reduced. Help deciding if this program is for me

Hello everyone. Even though I am 5'6" and only 110, after 10 years of marriage and 2 kids, I've been left with an ugly, flabby belly (I look as if I was 4-months pregnant!!), flabby arms and legs. My husband is on his second month of doing the P90x program and I am amazed and the changes he's been able to achieve, specially his abs, back and legs. If you're not familiar, p90x is a rather intensive program with routines every single day, alternating resistance training with cardio. This has motivated me to do the program but I have 2 concerns: If I do this or any other program, I'll be doing it to get rid of my belly, to tone my muscles and to get some definition. However, I can't really afford to loose weight since I'm not wishing to get the anorexic look. Can I do this program, get the results I want and not lose weight? Do I need to supplement my diet with something? My second concern has to do with my cup-size. I'm small but happy. I'm a full 32-B. I DO NOT WANT my breasts to shrink. Will that happen if I do this program? Should I only do a selective, modified program where I target only my abs and legs? If I do this, will not having cardio affect my performance? I know this is a long post, but if any one can help me I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If you lose fat, your cup size could go down. It just depends on where your body is programmed to store fat and where it isn't

A lot of women who are skinny fat to start, find that they actually gain weight, while loosing inches, when they start a resistance exercise program, becasue they are replacing body fat with lean mass (muscle, water, blood, bone, internal organs, connective tissue, etc.).

Also many women find that by developing the muscles of the chest, back and shoulders and improving their posture they actually end up appearing to be larger in that area, so I would not shy away from any part of the program.

And, finally, diet is the most important part of determining if you gain or loose, so you may need to increase your calorie intake slightly as you increase your activity level. Also, most women tend to eat too little protien and need to increase their protien intake to get the optimal benefits from a resistance exercise program. Try using fitday.com or one of the similar web sites to determine your macro nutrient breakdown. Read the nutrition stickies on this site for more detailed info on diet and macro nutrients, and ask specific questions if you don't understand anything.

Good luck.

My girlfriend graduated p90x and her boobs are actually more lifted and they look FABULOUS. They actually appear a little larger now.

To address both of your concerns just follow the workouts AND THE NUTRITION GUIDE as its all layed out in the program. Dont modify the workouts unless you physically cannot do them yet. All of the pieces are part of a puzzle and it all fits perfectly. You certainly will not look anorexic. p90x isnt geared towards weight loss, its geared toward shedding extra body fat and replacing it with lean muscle. Half the people in the 12 workout dvd's consist of women and they are all lean and mean without loosing any of there womanly appearances. If you would like I can put you in touch with my girlfriend and she can help you with your concerns first hand. She is really good she knows her stuff.

Hey Choela, Thomas here.

In regards to your question about getting back in shape, your cup size and the "flab", I can tell you from personal experience the skin will be your hardest part. there are a multitude of programs available to you on the internet and this site should help you narrow it down. your husband has seen great results using the 90, your concern is not loosing weight at 110 lbs. What matters to you most at this point from what I gather is how you look in the mirror and feel, your weight is just another tool to use when gauging your appearance. What matters is what that weight is made out of, IE fat or lean body mass.

I have lost over 200 lbs and will be having skin removal surgery in may. to be realistic you can get into amazing shape and I just wanted to come out and tell you the skin may be the only part of your body you may have to just accept. The "flab" will certainly go away if you are to increase your lean body mass as some members have stated earlier.

I wish you luck! keep us updated!

Hey Choela!

My wife and I have 2 kids ourselves, wife HAD the kids tho:D. The toughest part is to regain that pre baby stomach. From my experience in training many post baby women, you can only regain that stomach to a point then genetics take over. As far as the cup size, breast tissue is about 80% fat so when you lose body fat they will get smaller. Thats why you see so many women that are in fitness have implants because their bodyfat is so low that their breasts go away.

Good luck on your goals!

Hi! I was concerned about the same thing when I started working out. You can't spot reduce, and if you lose fat, chances are, you may lose a small portion of your cup size. It may not even be enough to make a difference in your bra size, but breast tissue itself is mostly fat. I had to decide whether it was more important to keep my cup size the same, or change my whole body and be healthier. My bra size actually increased! My back got bigger and I had to go from a 32 to a 34. Once you start training your whole body, and find a an effective program, your body will take on the shape it's naturally meant to have. Trust me, You'll feel beautiful! And, you will be!
