DONE being fat.

I've been bullied since the 4th grade. Dieting since the 5th grade.
Here I am, a senior in COLLEGE and still overweight.
That's what - Fourteen years of trying and failing?

I'm 5'2" and currently 190 lbs.
My highest was 237, my lowest was 180.

For once, I'm determined to hit that 180 again and KEEP GOING.
I'm doing okay so far, just really craving support and talking to others about it - it keeps me going.
Also a former binge-eater and I'm probably still a refined sugar addict. But the 21 day fix (eating) program is really helping me with that.
Also doing a PiYo/T25 hybrid of workouts.

Dear Diary. Dear Fat. I AM FED UP (no pun intended), and ready to be HEALTHY, ENERGETIC, and SUCCESSFUL.

What's up y'all?

Hi Emily,

This is my first day here too. I find I need to stay away from refined sugar too. It sets me up for sweet cravings and I'll suddenly want cookies and cakes etc.

I'm trying the 21 day fix eating also but find I'm hungry. Those are some pretty small containers lol.

Welcome to you congrats on your decision to get proactive about a healthier you! Now get busy! Any exercise in your plan?

Hi Emily & welcome to our friendly, supportive forum. Those 14 years were not a failure honey. They are history & were a learning experience. This is now & you can succeed. We'll be your cheer squad xo Cate

I actually found I wasn't eating often enough - I'd wait until I was REALLY hungry then I'd overeat.
After a couple weeks on the 21 day fix, my cravings have gone down substantially!

And if you are still hungry, try spreading portions out more throughout the day (They recommend 5/6 meals), or move up a bracket.
I was in the 1800 calorie range (ish) and I foud it was too much food for me, so I moved down a bracket.
There's an app you can get to track your containers.
Also, if you miss your carbs (i'm a carbaholic) allow yourself one cheat day a week :)

Hi Emily! I love your enthusiasm! I joined pretty recently too. Excited to share the journey to fitness with you :)

Cate already said it, but those 14 years aren't a failure. It's all a learning experience. Nobody here (or anywhere else, for that matter) got it right the first time. Or the second. Or third. Or fourth...

It has taken us all a long, LONG time to figure it out. Personally, I think I've given this whole "losing weight" thing a go about 9 or 10 times over the past couple of years. Some were fairly successful, some were not. But, I've learned from my experiences and keep bettering myself each and every time. Am I perfect? Nope. None of us are. I still make mistakes. I still gain weight back after I lose it. But, I use the knowledge I gain from each of my attempts and use it to better my next attempt. So, don't look at those 14 years as a failure. Learn from what you have been through and apply that knowledge to NOW.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. This is a great place to vent, get advice, lean on others for support, etc.

Also, and I'll just be blunt - fuck the people who bullied you. I don't know your story and I don't know what happened, but it's in the past - leave it there. Don't hold onto it - let it go - don't let them win. Fuck 'em. Lose that weight and show them how strong you are.

agreed. No one is expected to understand the balance of nutrition and exercise at that age. And, dieting at such a young age with your body going through so many changes can also cause more harm than good. But, keep up the great work and we are here to support you.
