Does exercise speed fat loss?

If someone follows a VLCD (very low caloric diet) say less than 1000 calories to lose weight they are going to have a tough time following it in the first place.

Probably for a week or so, you can severely restricts calories to about 750 a day.

There are various problems associated with this:

-You may lose lot of weight initially but very less will be fat, and mostly it will be water and lean muscle tissue.

-One cannot ingest enough nutrients when you eat less. So there will be lots of cravings.

-One’s metabolism slows down, which makes weight loss tough as time goes by.

VLCD is often used under medical supervision for individuals who are morbidly obese.

But there is good news, aggressive weight loss can happen if you do it intelligently and by understanding how your body works.

Say your maintenance comes around 2000 calories. You can then create a deficit of 600–700 calories which is good enough for you to lose more than 2 lbs /week (but only if you include exercise which I have explained below).

Now, know this we were meant to move! Our brain changes the minute we start to stand up and move. Certain neurotransmitters like serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine are released which makes us feel good.

We all know how important building muscle is (I am not talking about huge bodybuilder type physique). Muscle are catabolically active tissues that helps you to burn more calories even at rest.

You lose 1 lb of fat by burning 3500 calories.

You can create a deficit 500 calories per day from food alone and lose 1 lb /week, or you can create a deficit of 7000 calories by burning an additional 3500 calories by including exercise as part of your lifestyle and not only accelerate your fat loss but at the same time start to feel amazing, retain or build muscle and become super healthy as a result.
