Does Chewing and Spitting cause weight gain?

Some peoplo say that starving yourself will cause weight gain because your body will think you are in starvation mode, but starving myself (eat about 200 cals, burn 300 on the treadmill) for the past week has caused nothing but weight loss for me and I'm extremely happy. I'm not tired or run down, I feel much more energetic and happy because I know that it is working and that soon I will reach my goal. So I am just wondering, if starving myself does not cause weight gain for me, will chewing and spitting cause it? Is it safe to do that if I want my body to continue losing weight? Thanks in advance! xx :waving:

Your diet is extremely unhealthy. In fact, it sounds borderline anorexic/bulimic. Get your calorie intake up to at least 1,000cals a day, preferably 1,200. Chewing and spitting is not good at all. Just eat, alright?

Message me if you need to talk. Trust me, I do understand. I'm a recovering bulimic and I've had my share of experience with chewing and spitting.

this is not the place for you. What you are doing is VERY unhealthy and no one on this board will support such actions. Please, for your very life, seek professional help from a doctor or other professional. We can't help you here.

Starving yourself is never going to make you gain weight, what it will do is prevent you from losing weight optimally.

When you are starving yourself, your metabolism changes into starvation mode and can decrease by as much as 40% IIRC. So it means that your body will change its processes to get by on fewer calories. You'll still lose weight, but you might actually lose more weight by eating as little as possible without going into starvation mode (I read 1200 calories a day is the threshold for starvation mode for women), not to mention that you'll get nutrients for your physical and mental health as well as energy to function in daily life.

The other problem with starvation is that you will be losing muscle as well as fat (and if you are not very fat to begin with, this actually can be dangerous because your body will start using your organs including your heart for energy). In order to prevent muscle loss you need to eat enough protein as well as do resistance training. Usually what happens with starvation diets is people eventually start eating again, maybe even binging to compensate for starving, and end up gaining fat in place of the muscle they loss so their body composition worsens.

What you're doing is not sustainable in the long term, and it's just generally not very good for you. By depriving yourself of nutrients you'll not only be messing with your body, but you can give yourself mental health issues because your brain won't have the nurtients to make neurotransmitters (and if you are a student/work in an intellectual job it will harm you there too). Also, chewing and spitting sounds kind of eating-disorderish.

try to make your diet a balance one :waving:

Starving yourself won't work. Sorry to burst your bubble.

When I was in college, I went through this phase. Initially I lost 30 lbs, but I screwed up my metabolism so bad that I gained. I ended up gaining over 60 lbs eventually.

The only way to lose weight is to eat healthy (at least 1200 cals/day) and to exercise. Eating 6 small meals a day every 2-3 hours apart is the best option. Since changing my lifestyle to this method, I had lost 113 pounds. I got pregnant since then so gained weight back, but there is no doubt in my mind I can lose it all again.

Wow... chewing & spitting? I don't mean to sound mean.. but thats just pure INSANITY! Do you honestly think for a mnute this could be healthy at all? You need at least 1200 calories a day... you might lose some weight, but thats going to take a major toll on your body & everything will eventually shut down. Please seek help!:toetap05:
