I am buying new kinds of rice to experiment with, but I am having a hard time finding real, tested recipes, even online. It is tough finding any information about the thousands of varieties of rice out there, other than "Let it soak overnight then cook it with some extra water."
I'm going to make some "Forbidden Rice" today, it is black rice that becomes purple when it is finished cooking. Even the rinse water came out bright purple
I'm hoping to find some resources to get some REALLY unsual varieties at reasonable rates. I am really wanting to try some "Bamboo rice" (it's bright green!) sometime soon, but it's $5 for a little 10 oz container. Not on my budget, sadly.
If you have any recipes or suggestions, please post them here. Any links you have actually used for advice with cooking with unusual kinds of rice would be welcome, as well.
Thanks! ~QJ
