Does anyone go to bed hungry?

I am sure you have all heard the old adage of - eat like a king at breakfast, prince at lunch and pauper at dinner.

Anyone follow this?

I used to consume most of my calories in the evening and have been switching around my intake. It seems to be helping with dropping the pounds but I am going to bed hungry.

well, i strictly follow this principal, but its just that , i take a full stomach, salad meal, with no oil, no butter or cheese. i hope thats not something wrong i am doing!

Lately, I've been going to bed not hungry neccesarily, but I could eat. Haha.
But, I've been able to get to bed earlier than I had been previously, so that helps a lot. I used to be a major night owl, up til at least 3 am most nights, working on music or pictures.
But, I think that's probably where a lot of my weight gain came from, staying up all night and then I'd get bored and eat.

actually its a pretty bad idea to go to bed hungry. its a bad idea to remain hungry at any point during the day. what you should do is to eat a healthy snack. an apple or something like that. it should fill you up.

the reason its bad to deprive yourself for food is because your body will end up burning muscle, something which isnt exactly easy to get.

I used to go to bed hungry, but once you get used to the way you are now starting to eat, its not so bad :) If i get hungry, I'll eat strawberries or grapes, or if we have any other kind of fruit (not bananas) I'll eat that

If I'm hungry before bed I have a cup of tea and a handful of nuts or seeds. Always something light and healthy. But usually I have eaten a substantial dinner so that just doesn't happen.

I used to stuff myself before i went to bed. Since i've changed my diet. I don't eat after 7 if i can help it. If i work till ten i eat a piece of fruit when i come home.

I like sleeping hungry. I sleep better with out food inside me when i sleep. Also, when i wake up I'm not as hungry any more as i was before i had the change in lifestyle

We all know its bad to eat before going to bed, I sit down and meditate and let that feeling go. Its all about motivation anyway.

Not that I think anything is wrong with going to bed hungry but I don't. When I'm hungry I eat...
Of course maybe that's why I'm STILL not at goal..
hmmm. ;) lol
However I did lose lots of weight eating...
But I do wake up feeling 'thinner' when I don't eat late at night...
hmmm...

NO, we all dont know it's bad to eat before going to bed. Have a calorie deficit at the end of the day is more important than the times you are eating. I like to have a little cottage cheese and natty peanut butter before bed, as long as i have the calories available to me.

I try to keep most of my calories in the early part of the day, but I never go to bed hungry, else I'll wake up during the night with a mean desire for food.

Low fat cottage cheese and raw spinach are my best friends after 10pm

Sometimes I'll be in bed and feel a hunger pain. When that happens, I know I can't fall asleep until I do something about it.

I'll usually have a big glass of water and a little cracker. The cracker and water fill up my stomach right away and can fall asleep.

This only happens once in a while though (maybe twice a month).

I started a new diet, the kind where you eat a lot of little meals, mostly protein, vegetables, and fruit, with some carbs (think oatmeal and rice) tossed in, and I have noticed that I was never hungry before, but now I am ALWAYS hungry. Not the kind of hungry where you think you are going to die or feel like your stomach is gnawing its way through your backbone, but the kind of hungry where you wonder what kind of tasty snack is in the house to eat. I usually just sleep on it. Though lately, my schedule changed, and I have been eating right before bed. Like now << >>

always hungry at bedtime

I'm always hungry when I go to bed. I'm used to it now. My husband complains that he's hungry too. He said the funniest thing the other night... "I always go to bed hungry, but wake up fat" :banghead:

We watch TV before going to sleep and food commercials are the worst. We started muting them and talking to each other instead of watching those pics of burgers and fried foods whizzing by. Seems to helps a bit.

What I have been doing this time around is actually saving a good amount of calories for the end of the day.
I am busy enough at work during the day to not think about food much so I am fine with just eating breakfast lunch and one 100 calorie snack during work hours.
But the thing is that I ride horses and in the evenings I spend 2.5-3 hours at the barn riding 2 horses which is hard work and definitely makes me sweat! I usually have to leave my house at 6 or before and don't get home till 8:30 or 9 at night. So this means if I could only have supper in the evenings I would have to eat at 5:30 or earlier and then not eat anything till the next morning (even though I just 'worked out' at the barn) OR I would not eat until 9 or later at night and be starving at the barn.
So what I usually tend to do is save around 800 calories in the evening so I can have 'supper' before going to the barn then still have 2-4 hundred calories left at night.

So the short answer is no I don't go to bed hungry

I try not to go to bed hungry, I just don't sleep well. I'm trying to make better dinner choices with enough protein to carry over past bedtime.
