Does anyone else get bummed out that they didn't start earlier in life?

I'm 35... no, 36 now (damn) and I've spent the last year making great strides. I've found a workout regime I enjoy, have learned a lot about nutrition and feeding my body proper foods, and have lost 30lbs and kept it off.

I find myself pretty depressed sometimes that I didn't make these strides much earlier in life though. The dating opportunities, general confidence etc is something I could have used when I was younger. I bounced around in weight a lot as a kid and in my 20's, but I've always see-sawed between highly overweight and obese.
Does anyone else have these feelings of regret? What have you done about it?

I can definitely see how it would be easy to regret not being active sooner when you are seeing good results. One way to look at would be that a lot of it is about timing. You might have tried to get active sooner, but things could have gotten in the way, or you might have gotten injured, or you might have picked an activity or foods that you don't enjoy. Many factors come into play when making fitness and dietary changes, so it sounds like everything fell into place for you to be successful with it now. The only thing I can suggest is that instead of focusing on regretting what you didn't do in the past, focus on how to maintain the healthy changes that you've made so you don't regret falling off the wagon in the future.

I tried to get on a system in my 20's and had a little success. Like most I also battled with going out and having fun over hitting the gym. I also wish that I had fully dedicated myself at the time and ditched my "friends" that only wanted to drink and go to the bar. I would look way better and have a lot more money today! Now I have no friends and hit the gym regularly and have more money to spend too bad I waited so long...
