Do you think the pain will go away?

I wanted to start running before, but the last two times I tried to jog/run a short distance, my knees felt bad, and my feet felt bad for the next couple of days...

Is this normal, or a sign that running just isn't for my body?

Running can be for most people, however proper conditioning is important and often neg lated or not heavily stressed by teachers of it.

If you have ever heard that you must walk before you one, its a very true statement. If you want to start to log or run then you need to focus on the following...

-Very intense pre-running stretch sessions (active and dynamic are good here)
I also recommend foam rollers if you have the availability.
-A good 5-7 min walk. Focus on heel to toe and keeping your posture form.
-Start off in intervals. Run for 30 secs, then walk for 30-60 secs. Then hit it again. Keep doing this until you can increase your time. So later try run for 60 secs, then walk for 60 and so forth.
-After done do a proper post stretch of active stretching and really massage and workout those leg and lower back muscles.

To be honest one time my trousers were a bit restrictive so I couldn't stretch "intensely", but that was because I decided to run on a spur of the moment thing. I will definitely remember to stretch my legs for a LONG time next time.

I'll try the 30secs thing too. I sort of did that before, and I don't think my legs hurt that time so it must have been easier.

Is it true that running on the grass would be easier on my joints? I'll just have to check there's the dog mess first...:)

Have you tried gradually working up to a jog... perhaps a brisk walk? Remember, you've gotta crawl before you walk.
