Do I have an eating disorder?

Hello I am new to the forum and was hoping I could get some advice. I am 23 years old 5 feet 9 inches tall and weigh about 255 pounds. I desperately want to loose weight but I cant even diet for two days. If I don't drink pop for about 2 days I will get headaches. And when I try to diet I feel like I am going through withdrawal. One of the biggest problems I have is buying large amounts of food and pigging out. Then afterwards I feel terrible and disgusted with myself. So I throw it all out. I do this like a few times a week. I spend like 40 dollars each time. Eating is like a hobby for me. I eat even when I am not hungry. Sometimes at work I will be thinking about what I am going to eat afterwards and it makes me excited. It is really embarrassing but I don't know what to do. My doctor said I have a higher than normal sugar level and I have to loose weight. I would have to loose like 70 pounds to be at a healthy weight. Can someone please help me out with some advice or tips. I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

You're probably getting the headaches from the caffeine withdrawl.... slowly taper yourself off of it.. and drink lots of water.

How exactly are you trying to diet? are you cutting calories too low - leaving yourself feeling deprived?

Stop buying huge amounts of food -just buy what you need...

I would strongly suggest you spen some time reading around the forums - especially the stickied threads... you'll get a lot of good info and tips..

I eat tons of fruit - it might be worth you trying that. At least it is healthy and sweet so it might distract you away from things that would be bad for you.

I used to drink lots of pop too - but drink a lot less now. What I did was I worked out how much water I should be drinking and I filled bottles with that much water each day. I put them overnight in the fridge. Then the next day - I have the rule that I can still drink some pop but I cannot have much (only an odd mouthful) until I have had my full allocation of water. I imagine that you will not be nearly as keen to drink pop if you have had 3 litres of water already that day. I found it much easier to cut down like this that to stop drinking pop fully "cold turkey".

I found it much easier to lose weight once I started exercising. I now wear a pedometer and do a lot of walking. It may not seem an exciting form of exercise but it was something that I could manage and I was a lot bigger than you are. It is also free so that is good too.
