distal tendon

i tore my distal tendon off at the elbow im sure this happens to many but i have sugery wed aug 13 how long of a recovery will this be?

im not a doctor but tendons and ligaments lack blood supply in adequate amounts. hence they will take longer to heal than any muscle would. ask somebody who has torn an ACL or PCL or MCL and you might get a rough estimate.

Ask your surgeon.

Good answer :) That's what I'd do :D

We're late in answering, so you probably already know what the "plan" is :)

Generally speaking, you will have a 6-8 week period where you don't do anything much other than basic range of motion exercises. Your rehab process will be very gradual. After that, the tendon has healed enough for you to start doing some physio to strengthen the arm again. After 3-3.5 months, you can probably start in with some LIGHT bench pressing and shoulder presses, and between 6-9 months post-op, you will probably have attained normal strength and full unrestricted function again.

I'm not a physiotherapist or an orthopedic surgeon, so there may be different thinking on this in the industry depending on where you live and what facilities you will be going to.

If you can stomach the pics, this is how they probably fixed your tendon:

It's a really solid repair.

thanks for the pics they helped mine might been a little different i had post op dr was not there but talked to asst she said the went all the way through my arm small hole on other side and attached somthing there i wasnt sure how but she said it went very well

2 stents, huh? Did you have a heart attack (myocardial infarction) or did they catch it before the MI?

I have 1 stent and no MI.
