Dislocated shoulder

I dislocated my shoulder last Sunday night playing hockey. Obviously it's still pretty sore but I want to play this Sunday. I was thinking of wrapping it but don't know how to go about it and can't find a clear answer on the net. Anyone wrapped a shoulder before?

karl thats pretty risky, i'll see if i can find a few pics in my books for you

hockey... id say he laxated it, i subluxated mine on monday, boy that hurt, and speaking of pain, i just burnt my tongue on chicken noodle soup. lol

lol ur poor tongue. i figured more on the lax so i'd say this karl i won't do it so soon, really. and as far as taping it, man its best to tape it so you can't move it. i would wait so you don't have to worry about vascular and nerve impingment. oh well boys will be boys, if you want swathe it but you'll have limited mobility. ??

Limited mobility would be ok. Do you have any pics by any chance of how to go about wrapping it? Sorry, swathe it?

**** karl i wouldn't temp fate this time give it a little more time to help u r at greater risk until its had time to heal. that kind of injury could result in some perment nerve damage. so my advice is to watch the game this week and see how things feel next week . i recommend some time on the side lines unless you can play one handed! then i'd i'd swathe for sure.

sorry karl i know its not what you wanted to hear but it it sounds like luxation to me (complete) and you had peripheral nervous deficits so i would lay off, you don't want to damage nerves or vasculature and have perment pain numbness or worse loss of sensation. sorry, i feel bad now:(

jeeze karl i would give it a couple of weeks atleast it can take up to 6 weeks if you keep straining it. if you don't let it heal properly youare setting yourself up for increased risk of injury to that area in the future. let it stabilize and see how you feel, just plz be careful ok. i know it really sucks but its neccessary.:(

i think thats best or you may put yourself out of it and you don't want to do that. good luck karl. hope the tournament goes well.

Karl, if you go out and buy a tensor, there are diagrams in the boxes on how to wrap a knee, wrist, and shoulder. However, I am with Jenn on this one. You should take it easy and definately not play, or you may be risking serious and permanent damage.

u got it karl. you guys can pm me if you have ?? that you don't want to post but need info on. i'll help anyway i can. :)

Karl, seriously, go see a sports physician or athletic trainer or someone certified to handle an assessment of your injury. You've been given some excellent advice to not play in the tournament and to let it heal.

Well at least I've seen a doc now and got xrays. Everythings where its supposed to be, he says its probably just strained at this point. Rest, ice, meds, check back in a week.
