Long rant alert!!!

For the 100 millionth time I am starting a diet tomorrow!

I am totally and utterly depressed and I feel like I am going to jump out of my skin. In the last month I have managed to put on 6kg that took me around 6 months to take off. I can't look at myself in the mirror!! And why before the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been on a 'diet' for as long as I can remember. Every time I go out to eat or for family lunches, I 'cannot' eat everything because I am watching what I eat. It has been like that for YEARS!! In my group of friends, I am always the chick on the diet. And I am so embarrased - becase I have gotten no where. And I am just torturing myself mentally. I really wish I can stop thinking about what I can and cannot eat. And I'm not even doing it right!!

Essentially, it isn't even a lot I have to loose. I would like to loose 10kg and I would have reached my goal. I JUST CAN'T DO IT!! I'm even writting this thinkng I'll get some motivational responses, then I'll get started, but I know I'll quit again.

Argh! I can feel tears swelling!

I start off fine every week and then get lost a few days in.

I don't even know which diet to try anymore. Every one I start is seen as 'the right one', I become totally lost in it, and then when I get some head way I fall off track and all the weight comes back - because it's all or nothing with me.

When on the Atkins, his book was like the bible to me, everything made sense, carbs were bad, 'this has to be the way we should all eat'...now I can't look at meat anymore...and so it goes.

Then tried the UN diet - rotate what you eat, one day protein, next carbs, then starches followed by a fruit day. Ah huh! Not mixing foods is the key...and then I did once and thought hey, now that I already did, may as well go all out...and so it goes.

My main problem is cutting things out. On some diets I wasnt allowed alcohol. The when I did have it i thought 'well Ive already broken it now...'

I think I need a friend to go through this with me. The time I did best was when my husband and I dieted together - he managed to keep his weight off. I'm back to where I started.

HELP!

Lost 38 pounds thus far in 09

Tool 1 - Strength Training
We have to recognize this as a viable fat-loss method. Every pound of muscle burns 35-50 calories per day. Adding lean muscle mass is the best way to jump start and sustain fat reduction.

Tool 2 - Cardio
Cardio is good, but it's not the only tool we should use. Cardio should be done as a partner to the other ideas. Anything that gets your heart pumping will do: walking, jogging, running, dancing, swimming, biking, or house cleaning.

Tool 3 - Nutrition
Nutrition is often the hardest part of the weight loss process. We simply forgot how to eat well in our culture. We need to eat protein, carbs, and fat to sustain our way of life. Cut one of the three out and imbalances will occur.

Tool 4 - Rest
Rest is not a luxury. It is a necessity. We should eat well every day and we should workout 5-6 times per week. The leftover 1-2 days are meant for rest. Our muscles need time to rebuild and repair themselves.

Using strength training, cardio, nutrition and rest to our advantage will result in fat loss. There is no magic bullet. Just simple and effective tools to create the body we want. Make a promise to yourself right now. Try using the above tools consistently and to the best of your ability for 4 weeks. You'll look great and feel amazing.

IT ALL STARTS IN YOUR MIND

Thanks for the response.

Any further advice on eating habbits? I don't even know what to eat anymore...I've been totally brain washed. Don't know what the 'right' foods are. Do I eat 3 meals or 5 meals? Do I just count calories?...:banghead:

Set GOALS!

SET GOALS

Setting goals has the advantage of focusing on what you intend to achieve. A goal acts as a form of mental contract with yourself and your degree of motivation will drive you to complete that contract. If the goal is too hard to achieve it can affect your success. The subconscious mind does not distinguish between big or little, it only knows success or failure. If you set a goal of four training sessions each week but only complete three then the mind sees this as a failure. For this reason you must set realistic and easily reachable goals. When you attain each goal it gives momentum to increase the level of motivation further.

Try these tips

write down your goals

*easy goals often so you create a habit of success in the mind

*set measurable goals - I will lose 1 pound each week. This gives you something to go for

*tell friends and family about your goals for motivational support

*make any routine fun and exciting to help maintain interest

*try new challenging goals to stop your normal routine from becoming a chore

*reward your success on reaching a goal

*think positively, replace thoughts like "I can't" with "I can and I will"

*don't set goals that are too much too soon

YOU CAN DO THIS! PLAN YOUR JOURNEY

When you have a desire to eat, are you really hungry? Other factors can make you feel like you want to eat, including feeling sad or lonely, the time of day, craving certain foods, or being thirsty.

THINK ABOUT IT...................

With my personal Plan and Journey I eat 5/6 Mini Meals per day. I dont ever really feel hungry unless I am NOT drinking my water!

I always grab a bottle/glass of water before eating.

This has really helped my Journey and I bet it will help yours....
