Discovery health challenge 2008

I just registered with discovery health challenge 2008 and the Bally 8 week pass. I am going to do my best to stick with this. I want to lose 30-40 lbs by summer. I bought, a while back, a bunch of clothes that are 1-3 sizes too small so I have a short term goal. Has anyone else done the DHC before?

I've tried it but I honestly hate bally's gyms... but if it gives you a kick start then have fun with it...

30-40lbs by summer is pretty agressive... make sure you're doing it safely so that it stays off...

Good luck with the Challenge!

You have about 6 months until summer, I don't think 30-40 lbs is too aggressive considering a 1-2 lb weight loss per week is safe and healthy. 30-40 lbs in 6 months is only around 1.5 lbs a week, I'm sure you can do it if you stick to it.

But I would say that 8 weeks at Bally's is probably too short of a time. My trainer says that you can expect to see real results after 1 month of consistent training so you'll see results, but if you're looking to lose the full 30-40 lbs, you'll have to commit to an exercise program beyond 8 weeks.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

Bah. The participating Bally's closest to me is either Kansas City or Dallas - so 4.5 hours either way. Don't see myself driving 9 hours for a free workout. ;)

I've tried the challenge before a couple years ago but got lazy and stopped going. =/ My fault. However, now dedicated to losing some extra weight, I've decided to sign up again so I can keep that variety workout worked into scheme. (I'm a 24hr member) I think the different gym environments will increase my time at the gym itself. Only one way to find out. Good luck on your challenge!!!!! :O)

I just startedt o go thru the sign up process for this -just because I keep seeing the commercials and wanted to see what it was about.

The diet program - for my current weight to lose 1 -2lbs a week -it says I should have a 1200 calorie a day plan.

Yeah - I don't think so..

I thik I'll stick with just reading the articles and do what's been working for me for the past 21 months... and that's not 1200 calories a day :D

though while i don't like the bally's in my area - a pool for a few weeks might be nice..

I just got the DiscHealth channel and was watching a twins show last night. It was awesome. Jeff and Jim lost 127lbs combined. That type of stuff makes happy.

Of course my MIL says, "and now they'll gain it all back haha." I had to leave the room.
