diet pills

im planning on going on diet pills. does anyone have any suggestions? id like to increase my metabolic rate and suppress my appetite...do i need prescription for these pills? anyone who has been on diet pills or anyone who knows anything about them please help me. thanks.

They don't work. Don't even think about it.

Excercise + Proper Nutrition will get you anywhere

If you really really really feel you must then you will save a hell of a lot of money just having caffeine pills like pro plus.
diet pills are just caffeine but they call it something else and thow a bunch of other crap in it just to make you think your getting something extra.

but still there is not much point, more chance of heart attack, loss of deep sleep and lack of energy just means a poor workout.

Hi

Hi,
Don't take pills. They're a waste of money. It's much better to spend money ona fitness manual or program. They can also harm the body

It depends what sort of diet pills you're looking for. Over-the-counter crap will most likely be ineffective. If you're looking for a prescription from a doctor, you might (and I use the word 'might' lightly, for it only happens in rare cases) be able to get a drug called "Adderall". Adderall is a methamphetamine - yes, it's 'speed', and it comes with all the side effects of doing speed. The drug is often used to treat patients with attention defecit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). If you take it, you will lose weight. You will also, in all likelihood, become addicted to it. Patients who suddenly stop taking Adderall face severe withdrawal symptoms, including seizures. Look it up on Wikipedia.

Watch the movie 'Requiem for a Dream' if you want to see how one woman's quest to lose weight using pills works out.

Long story short, I don't think there's any safe 'diet pill' out there, although I'm sure those money-hungry pharmaceutical companies are getting close to developing one.

Yep, most pills are 90% caffeine, 10% other stuff. Not sure they are worth taking. I don't handle caffeine all that well and it keeps me up all night so I don't touch the stuff.

Caffeine+ephedrine worked for me.

Definitely lost more weight while on it, had more energy, suppressed my appetite too.

Only problem is I had to pee a lot :D Caffeine = diuretic

Pretty cheap, works very well, and an added energy bonus. No negative effects noted except excess urination :D

Just one man's experience. The science is sound too, not that the science matters :p

I think diet pills are used more or less to lose weight. Telling by your picture id say taking diet pills is a bad decision. Diet pills are for those who need too lose ALOT of weight and suppress appetites. I would not recommend you take them but its up too you. The best way too do anything is the natural way. Which is essentialy to eat right, sleep right, and workout consistently. Diet pills are next gen stuff everything is better off natural in my opinion.

I took adderall and i would not recommend it too anyone who doesnt need it. It truly changes you and if used incorrectly can really mess you up. If your gunna get addicted too anything, get addicted to the endorphens your body releases after a healthy workout!

OK, I'm going to have to play the opposite side.

I believe in diet pills. With that said you should know, that no diet pill will make the weight fall off. It just doesn't happen. Also, I concur that most diet pills are basically caffeine. But they can aid in weight loss. Also in order to truly understand diet pills you have to understand weight loss 101. The rule of 3500. 3500 calories equals a pound. Burn off or eat 3500 less calories and you will lose a pound on average. Eat 3500 more and you will gain a pound. Granted this is a simplification of weight loss, but it generally holds pretty true.

Most diet pills work a couple of ways to create weight loss. First of all they speed up your metabolism in one way or another. The most common way being thermogenics (incresing heat generated by your body). Much like fires need more wood to burn hotter, your body uses more calories to burn hotter. Granted, your body won't be burning noticably hotter (maybe a fraction of a degree or so), but over a week or month that fraction of a degree difference everyday can result in a couple hundred calorie defecit.

Next most diet pills, which contain caffeine, give you energy. This can mean a lot depending on the person. For some they will walk a little faster during normal activities, others will work out a little harder at the gym, while others will skip a nap that they might normally take. Each of these has repurcussions. Doing things faster means you can do more in the same amount of time. Which means you will ultimately burn more calories. Again over the course of weeks and months this deficit will add up.

The last thing almost all diet pills have in common is they suppress your appetite. Again this will result in different effects in different people. For some you won't be hungry so you won't snack as much during the day. For others your mind will thing you are full for longer. The less things you eat, the less calories you are putting in. Thereby reduing caloric intake. When counting calories, this last fact helps people a lot. It is easier to eat 500 or 600 fewer calories in a day if you aren't hungry all day.

Those three things do make dieting easier. They don't cause you to lose weight automatically though. All diet pills will say they need to be used in conjunction with a healthy diet and excercise. If you naturally lose 8 pounds in a month due to diet and excercise, diet pills might help you lose another 1 or 2 pounds, a number that could equate to an additional 12-25 percent weight loss.

After that, diet pills have their own proprietary compounds which result in different effects. I take a pill from Wellness International called BioLean Free, which on top of the above three things, also claims to Improve metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats from the diet and reduce free radical formation.

If you are interested in a diet pill still, I recommend BioLean II or BioLean free from winyourhealthnow.com. Both are slighly different but achieve pretty much the same results. I've used them both but prefer BioLean free.

Sometimes taking diet pills give you the placebo effect that you need. For instance if your kind of down about you weight and feel too lazy to workout, buying a diet pill can have the benefits of the caffeine and also since you paid money, it will kick you into high gear and give you that push you need to start exercising and losing weight.

But now that it's been pointed out, you really don't need it, listening to music can get you pumped up to go for a jog and so can doing your exercises with a friend as well. Whatever it takes, really. :)
