Did Your Skin Improve When Dieting & Exercising More?

Not really sure if anyone's already asked this; but I was curious to know if any of you had skin improvements while losing weight [eating healthier, exercising more].

hi

yeah one thing that people/friends noticed was the improvement in my spots
and mentioned this aspect more than my actual weightloss

i used to get them around my chin and my nose and now my skin is much clearer and has minimal congestion,
i only now seem to get spots when im either stressed or suffering from pmt :banghead: lol
but i think its due to the cutting out of junk food and caffeine

yes i experienced my skin improving over the main chunk of my weight loss, probably due to the fact that i don't drink soda, and i don't eat junk food and fast food anymore! But its different for everyone!
 
Im sure it depends on the person. My first huge weight loss rally, my face cleared up big time. I put the weight on, back to messed up face man...

Thats such a strange phenomenon.

In studies, they generally show no connection between diet and acne. Knowing the "science" behind acne I would assume there is very little connection.

An excess of sebum is the beginning to acne. Possibly, certain foods increase or decrease the secretion of this substance? However, sebum is controlled by hormonal secretions. To control sebum you must control specific hormone levels. So, certain foods would have to somehow augment the endocrine system so the specific hormone levels that control sebum secretion's would somehow result in a reduction of sebum. This is unlikely to happen.

Of course, sebum is only the beginning. Once the bacterial infection begins under the skin where sebum is building. There you begin to have inflamed tissue thats red from increased blood flow. The puss is simply dead cells.

Anyway, there is a little more to it than that. But, you get the idea.

However, there is an astonishing amount of anecdotal reports that go against science. ;)
 
there is no science behind this claim, but wouldnt spreading oil and the fat on your hands from the food touching the sensative part of your skin increase blotchy skin? I mean, I know i dont have acne on my face, but pimples and such tend to show up when im eating poorly.

I dont know really, i just equate it as a reward for doing something good with your body. I tend to believe that if you do the right thing with your body that most of the smaller things will clear up.

Exactly, this is something I believe to be true.

A dirty face = a high bacterial count. A higher bacterial count will only exacerbate the problem.

Leaving food residue on your face after you eating allows for a great breading ground of bacteria. "bad" foods typically are more oily, and other wise "dirtier" than cleaner, more "good" for you foods.

It stands to reason that this could be a likely reason why many people claim less acne when cutting out things like potatoe chips and so on from their diet.

Of course, if this is the case. Cleaning ones face and hand well after eating (and mouth area while one is eating) would likely help near or as well as simply cutting out the foods in the first place.
