Did you become a picky eater?

I don't know what's up with me, but I feel like I'm becoming an extremely picky eater. I (obviously) used to love eating, but lately it's been a real struggle getting some things down. Especially fish and vegetables which have been so great for my weight loss.

I can eat things like eggs, or yogurt, or fruit, or some nuts. But it's been a huge, huge struggle to get vegetables down. I will sit there for a long time and chew slowly. It's somewhat like that with fish as well (which only a few weeks ago I simply loved and ate a lot of).

It's just strange, I'm definitely hungry, but because it's too late to do something like make eggs I am not eating.

I get something similar in that I eat lots of one food for a while and then don't eat it at all for a while and then go back onto it.
There are many things that I eat almost obsessivly for a couple of weeks then I don't eat at all for a couple of weeks before starting the cycle again. This happens with Chicken , salmon, natural yoghurt, oatmeal, rice crispies, soups etc.
Some weeks I eat very little veg and just want fruit and sometimes the reverse.
The thing I notice it most with is Salmon. I crave it and eat it often 3 times in a day in one form or other for about a week and then really don't want it until the cravings start again. I think that my body needs the fats in it and when I have had enough I stop getting the cravings until I need the fats again.

You both sound normal, food likes and dislikes are normal. There are some of us who do love vegetables for example but there are people who don't. Not everyone likes the same things, sometimes you can dislike a food for many different reasons, psychological, things like memories of eating the foods as a child/in foods you dislike/combinations, taste preferences or just facing the fact that they are not high in sugar or fat, they don't have the same taste saity and its not as easy to love them. (I do believe however you can aquire the taste).

Also don't forget that how you cook them, if they are in season, if you prefer them crunch or steamed soft, in stews or alone, with seasoning or plain... all these make a difference. If your already thinking "no, I know I still wont like them" I wouldn't bother with the extra effort, your minds already made up. Its psychological and you need to work on dealing with that barrier before you can stop yourself gagging.

But trust me, from someone who used to dispise vegetables with a passion, I became anorexic (not recommended!!) from that persepective if your hungry, you learn to love vegetables.

I guess this just feels weird to me because of the huge amounts I used to eat, and generally because I just loved food and ate for fun rather than hunger.

Now sometimes I have to force myself to eat for my health. I guess it's a good thing, but it's also very unusual for me.
