Diary of upimongo's balloon journey

Day20 of ballooning

Just finished a night shift and several colleagues have commented on my slimmer frame :blush5:

Still have this nausea when contemplating food...Is this what slim people feel like? :ack2:

No desire to binge, comfort eat etc. Just looking forward to each day as it comes, with a slightly less rotund body! :sifone:

:seeya:

Day21 of ballooning

End of my 3rd week today, will weigh myself tomorrow :willy_nilly:

It'll be my last night shift tonight, then I'll be off for 6 days (nice one!).. Was going away this weekend for a motorbike weekend...but it's meant to be raining ....the horror:eek:

Today I received a dvd of my balloon procedure....hmm... not seen it yet... and I don't seem to want to see it....maybe I could put it on Youtube...

:seeya:

Day22 of ballooning

Well folks, after 3 weeks, I've lost a total of 8kgs!!

Sounds a tad extreme, as 1kg a week should be enough....ah well!:smash:

Still feeling good, do not fancy any binging type foods, just looking forward to checking my frame size in March...and treating myself to a new motor :auto:

Hope things going well in your lives :banghead:

:seeya:

Day23 of ballooning

I'm off to sunny Skegness now for a bikers weekend...should be a good test of my new behaviour towards booze and food. I'll be back on Monday and give you the low down...maybe some pics of motorbikes if your lucky!! :biggrinjester:

:seeya:

Day26 of ballooning

Well folks, returned from my trip to Skegness.....it rained..a lot!:nopity:

Managed to remain alcohol and binge free....looked at my fellow bikers drinking like there's no tomorrow, and I remembered the rough feeling the next morning plus my balloon's little nausea signal and it put me off.....Is it just me, or are other ballooners experiencing a similar nausea signal from our friend?:smash:

Did I mentioned it rained? :(

It felt weird, not going to the bar as soon as I got my very damp clothing off. Went for a walk, and thought about how well things are going now and how loose the clothes are feeling and it really made me not want to binge. I'm hoping this attitude will continue, as I must change from my old habits and learn new ones. :svengo:

Hope things are going ok your end....and you didn't get too wet! :bigear:

:seeya:

Day27 of ballooning

Well chaps, another day passes and still managing not to binge....not even thinking about it!:hurray: For me, this balloon is having an amazing effect on my eating habits. Helping me to change my behaviour and thoughts towards food. I'm getting into the habit of eating healthily, and do not miss fast food or alcohol ....though the thought of holding a pint of Britain's finest does occasionally cross my mind :cheers2:

It's coming up to 4 weeks tomorrow, since the procedure was done. Reading from other diaries I think I was lucky with the side effects, only feeling really bad for 1 day :willy_nilly: The question you are about to ask me is how would I feel once the balloon is removed?....good point!...I think I would maintain my current eating habits and, with the support of my tribe, be able to communicate any change in my mood which could trigger a binge....I'll keep you guys informed...though that'll be in March.

My mood is positive, :smash: and I've noticed that I really enjoy the taste of what I eat. :drool5: Writing this diary is also a great help!

Hope things are working out your end :jump:

:seeya:

Day29 of ballooning

Well folks, it's now over 4 weeks since the procedure...hence weigh day...and the news is....lost a total of 9kg!! So it's a good, steady kilo a week... nice one!

No urges, binges....the only item on the horizon is a date with a lady on Monday, and she wants to get merry....so deciding whether to join in or not. When I think of alcohol, I have a feeling of nausea...should be an interesting date! :willy_nilly:

Saw my GP this morning, and she was impressed with the weight loss, though she didn't initially think the gastric balloon was a good idea. She wanted me to use my will power...which isn't what it used to be (joys of old age :ack2:)

My mood is still great, been looking at convertibles which I hope to treat myself to in March :auto: I know it's a man thing, but it's better than treating myself to 2 large pizzas (which I used to do) ! :smash:

I hope you guys are getting through your own relationships with food :)

:seeya:

Day30 of ballooning

Just finished another night shift... Actually went for a 30min walk, felt great! Again no urges for binging, eating healthily, admiring baggier pants, getting compliments....it can't continue like this...can it? :smash:

Sorry to cut this short...but I'm knackered!

Stay safe.

:seeya:

Day31 of ballooning

Hmmm....my sister prepared a delicious salad, and she placed 3 slices of fresh baguette next to it....when I started to eat the salad, I thought I'd leave the bread, but then I tried it! Boy, did it taste gooood!...so I ate all 3 slices. If my sister would have left 10 slices, I feel I would have attempted to eat all 10!

This is an interesting lesson, if it's on the plate then I eat it...but I do not eat anything lying around, like chocolate or ice cream...therefore I need to assist my belly by physically limiting the portion size...which is actually bleeding obvious...but it just occurred to me

Otherwise, still doing ok. Finished my night shifts, now have 4 days off, so what better place to spend my first day off than going to bed :smash:

Hope your dreams will be as pleasant as mine...(..that's if you think flesh eating monsters are pleasant :willy_nilly:)

:seeya:

Day32 of ballooning

Hi guys,

Well used a smaller plate today, and shock horror, I ate less :hurray:

Am off on a date tomorrow, and she wants to get merry, still not sure I'll be drinking as the prospect's making me nauseous... and I've not touched a drop for 6 weeks :cheers2: I need to re learn social situations without the use of alcohol. I'll let you guys know tomorrow...bet you can't wait..

My exercising is still pathetic...can't really blame it on the rain as I'm a member of a gym...damm! Need to pull my finger out and give my cardiovascular system a kick.

Still managing to eat appropriately and enjoying the taste, though my sister's left & I'll miss her cooking...so back too tinned fish!

I hope things are going well with you guys, until tomorrow,

:seeya:

Day33 of ballooning

Well chaps, back from my date...I did have alcohol, in fact 4 gin and slimline tonics! :cheers2: It was sooo different from my beer swilling days...one pint after another until my little voice said bed time via a sweet shop.

Also ordered a chicken salad sandwich instead of fries, burgers or potato skins with cheese. I just didn't fancy eating fatty foods....whether this is due to the balloon or my new relationship with food, I'm not sure. My sandwich came with fries, did not touch one! :hurray:

Also I felt more confident in myself as a result of the weight loss, had a great time & I'm seeing her again...result! :smash: I'm beginning to enjoy socialising again. :sifone:

Hope things are going well your end!

:seeya:

Day34 of ballooning

Well readers, another difference I've noticed in my changed drinking habit is no hangover the next morning!:) This would have normally led me to have a full English breakfast, plus the odd binge, but I eaten my normal breakfast of cereal plus a normal dinner.....this is great news for me as drinking was a problem which I used during my low moods that exacerbated the spiral down :(

I used to drink in private, wallow in my misery and binge eat! My mood has vastly improved since I decided to have the gastric balloon procedure. I'm feeling the benefits of the weight loss and yesterday I proved I can enjoy a social occasion in my modified relationships with food and alcohol :cheers2:

Sorry ladies, but I've been looking at cars with the view of treating myself in March...feel like a kid again! Might get a sportster and feel the wind through my toupee, and the dead flies on my dentures!

May your journey be safe,

:seeya:

Hi!

Hi there,

Just wanted to say congrats on your balloon journey so far. I have really enjoyed reading your diary. I am booking a date to get my balloon fitted tomorrow so have been reading a fair bit about it. I have read so many horror stories that when I found your diary it was a nice surprise that there was almost all positives - nice one! :)

Day36 of ballooning

Hi Shrinker, great to hear from you! Thanks for your comments...made my balloon swell!! :smilielol5: If you have any questions or concerns about the mysteries of the balloon please feel free to contact me. Good luck with your journey, I'm looking forward to reading them. :)

As for me....well today is the start of week 6 and it's weigh day....well folks it's another kilo loss, making a total loss of 12kgs..

I've just finished a night shift, and during the shift I was checking out my reflection, seeing my rugby shirt flapping instead of stretching taut! :jump:

I hope things are going well your end, am about to get some sleep....12kgs lighter..sweet dreams!

:seeya:

Thanks Upimomgo,

Im sure i'll find a looooong list of questions for you. I so look forward to flapping shirts, the suspense is killing me :smilielol5:

I have a date, 29 October, so only 13 days to go but who's counting hey?

12kgs is fantastic, you must be feeling so good :sifone:

Day38 of ballooning

Hi there Shrinker! Thanks for your reply, so you've got a date...nice one!:hurray: I must admit I spent some of the days before my balloon, eating the foods I'm not meant to eat but enjoy the taste off...fish & chips, pizza etc. as I realised I'll have to change my eating habits once the balloon is in.

As for the procedure, I never felt a thing, as I was snoring on the slab  Afterwards, I felt a slight nausea sensation which got a tad worse until the 5th day...when I :puke: for England! In fact, if I could, I would have ripped out the balloon:( Since then things have settled down and it's great! So, if you do have the nausea feeling, it will pass....honest! Just think of the flapping shirt!...and that we are all here to help you through it :patriot:

I must admit, it does feel great to walk and the shirt flaps...19 weeks to go!

I'm on the night shift again, one more to go then 4 days off...what joy:willy_nilly:...time for bed...

:seeya:

Day39 of ballooning

Well guys, another good day...finished my night shift, now have 4 days off :smash:

More people are commenting on the flappy shirt :sifone: It really does improve ones self esteem...:hurray:

I think there is a relationship between weight loss and a sports car :auto: A motorbike makes me anonymous, wearing a full face helmet and leathers makes me look like Michelin man! But with new body and improved mental state I'm feeling good in myself and I'm happy to..dare I say it....show off! :driving:

Long may this continue....just hope I don't end up with a hairdresser car :willy_nilly:

:seeya:

Day40 of ballooning

Hi foncused....that is a good question...err...according to the 'Oxford Dictionary for Blokes'...a 'hairdresser car' is a convertible which most blokes would not like to be seen driving..eg Ford Ka, Nissan Micra...but are seen to be driven by ladies with big hair working in hair salons...though of course this is an unfair generalisation, and of course taste change....So what may be considered a blokes car now could become a hairdressers tomorrow. So welcome to the difficult world of convertible selection...err..for a bloke :)

As for yours truly, I actually became hungry this morning!!...had 2 bowls of cereal and a piece of chicken...but I had no problems with the balloon. This is the first time I've been hungry since the procedure, but according to my calorie intake I'm still hovering around 1 500kc per day....:smash:

It still feels great to have flapping shirts...and baggier pants...instead of stretching the material over the bulging flesh ...the effect on the mind is amazing, am looking forward to my next weigh in on Thursday! :sifone:

Hope things are going well your end! :hurray:

:seeya:

Calorie intake site?

Hi there, :seeya:

Good to see you are tracking well, just wanted to ask which website you have been using to track your calorie intake? Sounds helpful!

Cheers, Shrinker :coolgleamA:
