Dinner!

Tonight I had a particularly grueling kickboxing session. Our instructor, who moved from Cambodia when he was a child to live with foster parents in Belgium, has his own martial arts studio--but my gym is cheaper than a studio :) Anyway, he had us do a lot of sparring with a partner--my partner was a 205 lb man. And he didn't exactly go easy on me. But he didn't hurt me! It was better for me because I worked out harder than I would have if with a female--no offense, but it's true. I was drenched with sweat and even though he tired out, I didn't :D I am quite fit at this point and there's one thing I can be proud of--I have endurance. I always push myself because my internal dialogue is all like, "I can do it!!"

Ugh that's so cheesey! ;)

Anyway, after kickboxing I went straight to Shoppers Corner for dinner food (I have a penchant for shopping while in my gym clothes and make-up less--in this town, no one cares. And if they do, I don't so it doesn't matter. At least I don't stink) I made a new recipe tonight:

Roasted Fish with Crisp Potatoes. I thought it was going to tatse really plain--because all it was was:
I cut Yukon Gold potatoes into round chips and roasted them with olive oil in the oven, then when they were about done, I put in some non-marinated halibut and asparagus until the fish was cooked. Then I served them piled on top of each other, with hommade salsa--that was actually just tomatos, garlic, and lime juice, because I forgot the cilantro. DAMMIT  I LOVE cilantro, basil, and mint--I can have them on pretty much everything!! Anyway, the meal was 375 calories per serving, and I made 2 servings. I put the rest away for tomorrow's dinner.

It was delicious! The thing that made it good was the plainess--and knowing that I wasn't dowsing it in salt or fat. I may sound like a good girl, but in the past, I swear I could have eaten 3 servings, no problem. Well, actually this meal has a LOT of fiber--and one can only eat so much asparagus. The fact that it is so healthy, so plain, yet tastes so good!

Calories today: 1680
Calories burned: 180 from my daily walk (I took it easy); 600 calories from my grueling hour workout.

I did well for my goal--I'm not tired or hungry, I feel fine and it's almost time for bed and homework.

Happy Women's Day!

Thanks, V! :D

So this morning I went to the gym at 6:30am, and I must say,

Steve was the angel inspiration. I thought of him, with his arms crossed in his no-nonsense manner, staring down solemnly and steadily, encouraging me.

HA HA! No, really! Because of him I skipped the cardio and weight trained for an hour, full-body, using heavier weights than normal. I usually bench 65 lbs, but today I did 75. I usually use 10 lb dumbells to do my shoulder and arm work: today I used 15 lbs. And it was just fine!

Thanks, Steve! BTW, now I'm having my cereal with soymilk, blueberries and strawberries and vanilla soy yogurt on the side, but I stuck a serving of whey protein in the yogurt. Tastes like cake batter! Yum!

Hahaha. I am your cyber trainer!!! :p

I am glad to hear you are taking the right steps. I give a lot of general advice all over the place on this forum. If things don't head in the direction you had hoped, let me know and we will see what we can make happen.

Sure thing! But my body is really compliant when I weight train--today I noticed that I was sinewy and toned, not chubby. In fact, I could hardly see fat (mostly because it's on the backs of my arms, love handles, thinghs, and tummy, all of which were covered with clothes). And as it goes, I can't see the muscle if there's fat in the way, so it;s all about nutrition, too. And I finally have a firm grip on that aspect, so I'm really glad. But thanks again--OH! I did the CDL and RDL for the first time! Hey--it felt like it was really working my lower back and core as well as my legs and butt. Must be a really good move for a lot of muscle groups, eh?

OK, in general, I am now 143.5 lb. The bloat has begun! (Day 21 of my cycle)

Good deal! I'm going to always do them, then. I know that having a strong lower back has kept me out of back pain-trouble. And who wants back pain?

grrrr pump that iron grrrrrr - I love lifting weights. Sounds like you are kicking some serious butt! :)

3:20 update

Ok you gals and guys,

I'm really starting to get the PMS munchies.

This is tough. I'm drinkin water water water water....
BORING!

Hey I have GOT to post a thread about that. I learned a lot about how our peroids affect us when dieting. Since 78% of people on here are women (it seems, correct me if I'm wrong) it is most likely a good idea. I'll have to gather my notes...or look for a thread

Isn't it exciting when you want chocolate and you get... water. :D

I actually find gum is good for me quite often, because I'm not hungry I am just after something to chew on and a nice taste. Once I have had gum for 10 minutes it also takes away the appeal of anything else because my mouth is all minty. Doesn't work every time, but it does help me with some of the cravings. :)

Anyway well done on staying strong willed and resisting the urge to eat naughty foods. :D

Thank you very much! I feel pretty proud of myself, of course i have wine class after work so I gets my wine. We have to taste--we can spit but if we choose not to, we get about 8-10 oz of wine. I have been pouring a lot out and drinking only about 5 oz. This week is French Bordeaux, so....we'll see how it goes!

And mix 5 different French Bordeaux? Blasphemy!

So I am having my dinner--tofu sandwhich, just the way I like it--spouted wheat bread, honey mustard, roasted red pepper hummus, lettuce, pea shoots, cheese, pineapple-marinated tofu, and avocado--YUM!

It's late

I'm sore-ish and exhausted, but my day was good. Uh, I woke up at 6:10 am though so it's beddy-bie time. I ate 2025 calories today, but I'm glad I did because I needed them. 90 are on account of the whey protein I added to my soy yogurt. 120 are acocunted for a glass of chocolate soymilk--which is a calcium-rich snack (among other things, like protein and vitamins), and 200 calories go toward the dark chocolate I snacked on periodically--then 110 caloris toward the 5 oz Bordeaux wine I consumed in class today. So I think of it this way: I weight-trained heavily today. I took my daily 35 minute walk with the doggie to the beach at noon. I am still up doing laundry right now. I've been acttive all day--I needed all those calories, and the extras that added up (520) were needed, not to mention healthy. My diet is very rich in antioxidants--for goodness sake, I eat 1/2 package of organic blueberries AND 1/2 small package organic strawberries EVERY MORNING on my cereal--and organic greans and pea shoots and mint leaves on my sandwich. Add the red wine and dark chocolate...ok you get my point. Perhaps I feel slightly defensive for the 2025 calories. Looking at it logically, though, I don't see why I can't achieve my 8 lb month goal. I shall be pleased with 6 or seven, in truth. The objective is that it is all or almost all fat loss. And with heavy weight training 2 hours per week, there's no reason why it wouldn't be. I THINK.

One concern in the back of my head: when I was 19, 135 lbs, and 18% body fat, I STILL wanted to be 125--but with my build and my ability to put on muscle, I wonder--will I have to lose muscle to be 130? I'm a tiny bit worried about that. I have no interest in being a willowy, stick-figure with no definition and little muscle--that's for high fashion models, not down-to-earth females like myself (who don't even have that body-type).

Bed time!

i dont think you should be too worried about the 130lbs and losing muscle issue. surely it would be better to be toned and fit and to look as if you weigh 120lbs than to be 130lbs with not much muscle :)

ugh, please post something about the whole time of month issue! i would love to read whatever you have. i experienced that this week, and i was hungry all the time! i was able to fend it off, but i still didn't lose any weight. grrr!

and by the way, good morning, pretty lady! :)
