Hmmm, the title of the thread sounds lofty!
Right now, I'm the "smallest" that I've been in about a year, though by no means "small". The plan is going well. I attribute this to the tandem of eating well and going to the gym. It's a 50/50 split.
I didn't get to the YMCA yesterday because I was feeling a little ill, but a dose of Threaflu last night has put me in ship-shape this morning and I'm about to head that way.
This morning, as I was fixing breakfast, I was amazed at how differently I'm eating. Here is an example:
Before:
2 servings of cooked grits with butter.
2 sausage patties
3 strips of bacon
2 pieces of toast w/butter, of course!
1 glass of orange or cranberry juice.
After:
My favorite now is this "scramble" that I came up with.
1/2 grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast.
1/2 large white onion
1 tsp minced garlic.
3 egg whites
1 piece of toast with no or light butter
2 big "honkin" glasses of water.
Hot sauce!
I sautee the onion, garlic, and chicken together until the onion is soft. To sautee, I use vegetable broth or cooking spray.
Other times I might have a bowl of Life cereal and some toast.
I have found that, truthfully, sometimes after I eat that I'm still hungry. But, I've also learned that that will disappear after about 10 - 20 minutes as it takes the brain about that long to send the signal. This will stave off my hunger for about 2 - 3 hours, then it's time for a turkey sandwich and a piece of fruit, and I'm good for another 2 - 3 hours.
I don't count calories, but the best that I can tell is that I've dropped down from about 4000+ calories/day to somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 - 2,500, based on an estimate that I made the other day.
Well, off to the "Y" for a bit of exercise!
