Desperate to lose gut but confused about which foods

Hi, Im a 40 year old postman who does a fair amount of walking every week and still does not manage to lose my beer gut.
I must walk between 5 and 15 miles a week and my height is 5' 10" . I never get out of breath so Im pretty used to my post round and am obviously not pushing my self psychically. I am very depressed about the fact that i just pick at naughty foods all the time. when I try to cut down its very hard because I am ravenous at work being out and moving a lot but when I get home I have a small meal or snack and then tea 3 hours later. I drink a can of beer most nights and maybe 6 over a weekend and a lot of cake and chocolate. My waist is only 41" but reading here anything over 40" is a heart health risk I am anxious to get on a good food diet and sort this out. My problem is I dontr know what to eat and at what time of day. Im up at 5 and in bed for 9 and not sure if I should be eating a lot when I'm on my post round and less later at home or less at work and more at home. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Beer, cake and chocloate are not a good start. Green smoothies are an excellent method of getting nutrition and keeping satiated due to the high fiber content. I made two videos here on youtube with smoothies:

Controlling your cravings is obviously key, having a diet rich in refined sugars and carbs will leave you constantly hungry. The closer to natural the food you eat is, the better.

I know this is a long article, but it might help to clear up some questions about nutrition and help you come up with a bit of a plan: Nutrition 101 – www.body-improvements.com.

It sounds like you kind of know some of the issues that you have... like beer daily, and candy and chocolate... Partly, it will be a matter of slowly reducing the things that you "pick at"

Just as an FYI, a "regular" beer has approximately 150 calories per can... which would put you at over 1600 calories per week in just beer (if you drink darker beers, then there's likely more calories) - which doesn't fill you up...

First of all there are lots of threads in this forum regarding healthy diet. You would get your answer if you read couple of sticky threads.

But if you really want to get the result, you need to cut some long term habit you have such bear. It is known to be a rich source of nutrients and this means that beer may have some health benefits. But on the other hand, beer contains alcohol, which is known to cause some serious negative effects on our health. Such as:

• Heavy beer drinking may promote abdominal obesity in men, so called "beer belly".

• Beer contains powerful stimulants of gastric acid secretion and may provoke.

• Daily beer consumption (approximately 40 g of alcohol) may increase blood pressure.

• Alcohol is a dehydrating agent and downer that reduce activity of the central nervous system. High amounts of alcohol can turn into dehydration, intoxication, and hangover.

If you really want to lose your weight then it is recommended to cut bear as well as chockalott and candy. Otherwise maximum diet plan would not work on you.
