Hi guys. I'm new to this forum, however not so new to weight loss attempts. I switched countries about six months ago and have gained about fifteen pounds. I don't fit into any of my old clothes, and it's ticking me off. I'm having a hard time getting a control on food. It's just too delicious. Now that I've run out of things to say, I'll try those questions...
1. What is your current height and weight? 5'8'' and about 155-160 (no scale)
2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 130-135
3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 140
4. Why do you want to lose weight? I'm turning into an unhealthy pudgemuffin
5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? I want to be normal when I get back to the states.
6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? I like food way too much.
7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? Well, I like food too much. I eat when I get bored.
8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? I should definitely lay off the chocolate.
9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Nope! I've tried though.
10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I like food too much.
11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? I went vegetarian (not for weight loss reasons),
12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? Yeah. I tried that and then stopped. I think I got overconfident.
13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? I hate cooking. I usually cook a legume-based dish or whole wheat pasta.
14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Sometimes I run out to fetch a gut bomb called a döner. It's basically a pita filled with fat and more fat and calories. I need to lay off those too.
15. What are your three favorite foods? Chocolate, mangos, blueberries
16. What are your three favorite restaurants? Qdoba, this thai place, eh ?
17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? I wish I could focus on food as nutrition rather than comfort. I wish I could lay off the chocolate. I wish I weren't so lazy to be hesitant about fixing a salad.
18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? I would fit into my pants! HURRAY! I would probably have more energy as well.
19. Do you eat when you are not hungry? Yes
20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? Yes
21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret? Hm. I feel uncomfortable eating in front of people. I prefer to eat alone, but I'm a loner in general.
22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Yes
23. Do you eat as a reward? No
24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yes
25. What do you normally eat for a meal? Sometimes legumes, sometimes salad, sometimes an obscene amount of chocolate
26. What type of snacks do you eat? Chocolate, fruit, bread
27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? I run regularly, like six miles three or four days a week, but it hasn't stopped the poundage from packing on, which is disturbing. I walk about two miles a day just to do errands, and I live on the fifth floor of a building without an elevator. The pounds are still packing on. Yikes!
28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? I head to a park along the Danube.
29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Running, running, walking. I'd like to add yoga.
30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? I don't want to feel like a rolly polly ball of pudge. I want to fit into my clothes again. I don't want to have heart disease or diabetes when older.
31. Do you have rewards for certain goals? ? No
Hm. I recently tried reintroducing meat after about a year of vegetarianism to see if it would stop me from being hungry ALL THE TIME, which is how it seemed earlier. I wasn't so hungry as that I felt like I needed to eat something all the time. I'm seeing what happens. I wasn't like this before I left the country.
I hope this motivational diary works. I tried sparkpeople about a year ago to shed a few vanity pounds, but it didn't last more than a month.
Thanks for reading. Please feel free to give me tips/advice/internet forum hugs/etc.
