Hello!

I'm a 19 year old student and like many, I've been on and off this site for many years (I'll try not to depress myself with that thought). I've actually started to genuinely detest my username, but rather than setting up a new account and pretending none of the last god-knows-many how years have happened, I'm going to try and just accept it.

Weight loss can feel extremely lonely, which is why I'm back! Not sure exactly how much I weigh at the moment, but my best guess would be
225lbs. Ideally I would like to get that down to under 140, but I won't get ahead of myself.

Obviously I want to lose weight for aesthetic reasons, but I'm also interested in running. I know that is something I could start right now. But I'm concerned over the risks that puts on my joints at this weight. So for now it's on the backburner.

Mission statement over! I don't want to sound pathetic, but please talk to me!! Whoever you aaareee.

It is admirable that you are still trying. The battle is never lost unless you give up. So hang in there. IMHO, it would be better to walk, row or ride a stationary bike. If you blow out a knee, then you will really having a problem losing weight. Good Luck to U!

Thanks! I'm down about 25lbs from my highest weight. I did start jogging (calling it running would be optimistic) regularly for a while, but like I say, when you can't walk down stairs properly the next day, it's a bit concerning. I like cycling and walking, so that's something.

:waving:

You're never alone while I'm here :)

If I didn't know anything about you, that might have come across as extremely creepy.

:D

Still got your snowman as my profile pic lol <3

Jogging is quite high impact and not so good for the knees, especially if you have existing knee issues (like me!). Cycling and walking is just fine for a start I reckon :)

I'm glad you said that... Poor Stan was about to get crowned as the new "creepy forum guy" LMAO! Sorry Stan.

Congrats on the 25lbs you've lost! Good luck with losing the rest!

Does this job come with a free badge? I might still do it if I can have a badge, but it's gotta have sparkles on it. If there's no sparkles on the badge then I'm going right back to my old "Forum Village Idiot" job :p

I have a bedazzler somewhere, will that work? We can bedazzle the crap out of it. LMAO!!!

LOL - thanks!

Urgh. I accidentally cut off a driver on a mini roundabout (after misjudging horribly), and he decided that honking and yelling at me would help. Instead it just turned me into a quivering wreck. I know it was my fault, and there's not much I can do now, but I just want to hide and eat, hopefully far far away from Mr AngryDriver.

Awww, he sounds like a jerk. But to be fair I bet he has never made a mistake on the road so he was so obviously allowed to behave like a complete prat. Bet he has short man syndrome anyway, seems a classic case to me.

People make mistakes, it's part of being human. Also a part of being human is to accept other people's mistakes and this guy is obviously just a shaved chimp if he can't do that. Maybe if you'd cut him off deliberately and given him the finger in the process his reaction would be justified, but all in all, I don't think he's worth the negative emotions he's caused you.

If you ever see him again stop and tell him Stan says f*** **f. And if he has a problem with that give me a call. I'll come and sort the midget chimp with a chip on his shoulder.

Don't hide,
Don't eat,
Just smile,
It'll be alreet :D

Thanks Staan. I neither hid nor ate (well, obviously I did eat at some point, but nothing unnecessary. I have a bit of a complex regarding my driving skills anyway, so whenever anything like this happens, it just confirms my theory that whoever passed me was maaaaaaaaaaad.

Crazy roundabout antics aside, feeeling good about being more mindful when I eat rather than throwing caution to the wind and pretending that overeating has no consequences. Saying no when people offer you food is actually rather easier than I thought.

Well done you for staying good. :coolgleamA:

It's like life, confidence comes from experience :)

Tell me about it! This was a complete revelation to me. Once they got over the immediate shock and confusion of me saying 'no' they tend to accept it for subsequent offers first time now :D

Thanks bro' (see I can be street)

In a similar vein - just got back from seeing the new Harry Potter! My friend bought a GIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT cola (seriously, it must have been like 1.5 litres), popcorn and malteasers. She kept offering them to me, saying she would feel fat if she was eating it by herself. Didn't really feel like enabling that sort of thing, so ate 1-2 pieces of popcorn and called it a day. Who am I?

Yo you da bomb (see, I can do it too :D )

Well done resisting, it would have been soooo easy just to delve into the maltesers. Or maybe it would have just been me that did that **looks around shiftily** But seriously, those things cost a fortune in the cinemas - how rich is your friend? lol

I'm not sure HP is for me either, I never got into it. Now Cars 2, that's out on Friday... :p
