Daniel's Diary

Hi guys.

This is the first time I have ever made a diary, online and on paper. First things first, I'd like to thank the person who suggested me to make one of these so I can see the progress and stuff on my weight loss journey.

My Goal: I always wanted to go to the beach and feel comfortable taking my shirt off and have a positive reaction from people. But that is only my second goal. My first goal and reason is that I am tired of having cravings at night, eating more than i should have been eating. Basically, i want to be healthy as a horse and maintaining it till I reach of age.

My routine: For the past week, i have been jogging for 20 minutes, then sprinting every 5 minutes (for 1 minute) during the jog, if that makes sense. (jog for 5 mins then a sudden sprint for 1 min, then slow down to a jog and so on). After the jog, I walk around for 5 mins.

After that, I move around alot to keep my body warm and heart rate up. You can call it shadowboxing :).

The next day, I lift weights because i want to keep the muscle mass i have under all the fat and skin. I do a series of arm lifts and recently read about exercising the frame of my chest to get rid of my moobs.

Since I am quite heavy, I didn't worry about using weight exercises for my legs since I'm guessing jogging will help burn fat on those parts of my body.

So all in all, I jog everyday, and weight lift every third day so my muscles will heal and gain more mass and shape. When i weight lift, I first stretch all my muscles, jog for 10 mins, then start lifting. Oh i also stretch before i jog.

My eatings: I eat chicken, beef, pork, and vegetables. Not all at once but throughout the whole day. I try portion my food so that instead of eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I eat small portions but more frequently, say 6 times a day? I drink lots of water because i heard that my skin will have more elasticity.

Supplements: I take these diet pills that have hoodia and also burns fat. I take 4 a day, 2 in the morning before I exercise and 2 in mid afternoon. It gives me more energy as advertised on the label.

Others supplies: I also use lotion (shea and cocoa butter) so my skin will have more vitamins in it. Also to tighten my skin as I lose weight. I don't want to have hanging skin.

Results: Nov. 23 - Dec. 1, 2009 - My stomach has become more flat, my skin seems to be keeping up with the weight loss. My arms became more muscular. It seems to have grown. My chest seems to get smaller. The fat in my chest getting reduced. My hips are losing its fatty curve.

My body is also getting used to the routine I have been doing. The recovery from all the exercise is becoming faster as the day goes by. Some parts of my body are sore but heal faster than the first day.

Mood changes: The first time I exercised, I was skeptic whether or not I can do this. The second day, I actually felt so good even though my body was sore. I was telling myself "you can do this Daniel...it is not impossible!" Well my conscious was right. At this very moment, I feel so happy and always commenting myself in mind about how well I'm progressing.

Other info: Every time I watch TV, I shadowbox instead of just sitting there. I am also trying to lose weight slowly so it won't affect the muscles that I want to grow instead of shrink. The diet pills are taking effect but I am really happy that it suppresses my hunger and it actually doesn't make me lose too much weight to cause health risk.

Well that is all I have to say today. I didn't put my weight on here yet because I am still afraid. Please leave me comments about what I'm doing right, and what I'm doing wrong because the thing i don't want happening is damaging my body even more because of my motivation and routines. If anyone wants to share their experiences as well, please do so. I love reading people's stories because it inspires me. Oh, if anyone needs more info about me (info that will help narrow the advice and tips that people will give me) please post it as well.

Bye bye :)

k so this is my first week and a day. Boy my arm muscles are forming great. I can also see some ab forming, although it is still covered with fat. My sides are getting smaller and smaller every day. I feel light headed and kind of nauseous. But it doesn't over-weigh how great i feel emotionally and mentally.

The exercises i did was jog for 15 mins, walked 5 mins. I did 200 situps and every 20 situp I did 10 arm curls using 2 hands (60 pounds). After all the situps and arm curls, I lifted 100 pounds on the ground and exercised my shoulder. Finally i shadowboxed.

The food I ate was chicken and potatoes (baked) and water lots of water.

:waving:Sounds like you are off to a good start but I would get rid of the supplements - if you continue to eat healthy and exercise the weight will come off fast. I'm not really sure how to explain why they are bad but I just know they are. Maybe someone else reading can shine some light for you on why you should avoid them - Kara where are you? You know more than me :)
But I will say welcome to the forum and stay consistent with the healthy eating and exercising and you will reach your goals no problem.

Hi Daniel, glad to see that you got a journal going here. It is a really helpful tool to keep yourself accountable. :)

I would also recommend registering for a free account with fitday.com. It is a free service with a huge database of food -- you can count your calories and keep track of your nutrition.

If you're feeling light-headed and nauseous, it's possible that you aren't getting enough calories to fuel your body based on the exercise you're doing. The more you weigh, the more calories you need to lose weight healthily.

I agree with chubbygirl ... ditch the pills. You don't need them. If you want to be successful then it's time to adopt a lifestyle that you can maintain everyday for the rest of your life. Dieting pills are not something that you should be incorporating into your lifestyle forever. They can disturb the way your body functions naturally and screw with your metabolism. If you're looking for more energy, eating proper nutrients and getting exercise will provide you with it, believe me!

My old breakfast used to consist of about 2-3 servings of junky cereals everyday. This morning I had a little bit of sausage with an egg and half a grapefruit and I STILL feel great, and it's almost 5pm.

Stick with things that you can keep up forever. It sounds like you're doing great with the exercise aspect of things, but monitoring your food/nutrient/calorie intake is truly life-changing. It is such a great supplement to great exercise.

I would encourage you to share your height and weight whenever you're comfortable, because much of the advice that is given is based on what size you're starting at.

I'm telling ya, if you can do 200 sit-ups it can't be that bad! I can't even do 20, haha
