i talked about this in my diary but not sure if anyone will read so wanted to get some feedback and post this part here as well if that's ok. haven't been feeling all too motivated lately to get to curves to workout and then today it was rainy so was excusing myself for not walking today so decided to kick myself in the butt and do something anyway. downloaded tons of my fav songs that i used to dance to back in the days when i was drinking and bar hopping and danced for about 30 min. anyone else dancing their way to fitness? also as for dancing i'm thinking to start at least 30 min 5 days a week, then getting up to more. so what do ya'll think? for someone who hates exercise this a good alternative? thanks for any feedback!

absolutely a good alternative for cardio!

i am not a professional, but i have researched many sources (cause I had the same question at one point) that say that dancing is good exercise.

plus if you do some of the sexy "drop it like it's hot" moves, you'll be working your thighs, buttocks and waist...:rotflmao:

i love dancing - i do dance exercise DVDs and they work really well. Salsa dancing is especially fun - and it trimmed my waist down pretty fast. Once I've reached my goal weight i'm joining pole dancing classes! make sure you add some weights into your program though.

Yoga Booty Ballet

Have you ever heard of Yoga Booty Ballet? :D
I just got it 4 days ago and I'm in love :beating: I have never had so much fun exercising and dancing at the same time. I LOVE IT!!! And you really do get a great cardio, specially with the Hip Hop Abs. IDK, just adding my 2 cents! ;)

Richard Simmons and DDR!

Morning,

Dancing is a super way to regain your fitness and health, and the best thing is, virtually anyone (as in almost *anyone*) can find a program that fits them.

Case in point - Back in January, I discovered Richard Simmons' videos including Sweatin' to the Oldies III, Broadway Blast Off, etc. His videos always include participants who are well over 300 pounds and you're left feeling, heck, if those people can do it, perhaps I can too!

Doing 'Sweatin to the Oldies III' was the first time in decades that I actually danced. And I did sweat up a storm. RS is also extremely supportive during all of the songs; it's really a treat to do.

Another 'dance' thingee that's fun is Dance Dance Revolution. I got that for my kids last year and it's their default workout fun - if they don't have karate, they indulge in 45 minutes of DDR.
is a forum for adults who want to use DDR to help lose weight - the site has a lot of great targeted information.

Enjoy,

Barbara
