Okay so starting off...

I'm doing a set of weight loss exercises and I've gotten stronger but I keep craving sugar and binging on candy. My diet sucks because of this...

So I was hoping if I had a journal I could get some help with this binging. The sad thing is, it doesn't make me feel happy. I feel terrible after I binge and I'm sure if I can just quit I'll drop a few poounds for sure but it's so hard. Maybe the lovely people can help me out to stay motivated to not binge?

Thanks in advance for reading this :)

Hi, CuteGirl28 & welcome to the forum. We can offer you support & encouragement. We have that in bucketloads. Ultimately, hon, it's you who has to stop binging on candy. My advice to you would be to eat some fresh fruit instead of candy. Candy has no nutritional value &, as you say, you feel terrible after you have it. There are so many people in here who binge on one thing or another. Feeling healthy is so much better than that horrible feeling after you have "stuffed your face." Take it one day at a time & every day that you resist eating candy give yourself a big pat on the back. Next day, do the same.........If you have one candy, stop. You can do this! We will be your support team. Cheers, Cate.

welcome to the forum cutegirl.

my advice would be about the same; find a healthy replacement for candy, something that you like. Fruit could be a good option. Glass of water or tea may also work, if you just want to consume something.

Anyways, sugar is an addicting substance, and the addiction is fed by keeping using it. This is good news, because when you reduce your sugar consumption, your need for it will drop too. The challenge is to get past that gap... the time when you want to reduce it but you are not used to it. That's where the replacements come in. If you take something that instead of candy, something with less or no sugar, you will get used to that and in a short while you start thinking "how could I ever have eaten that much sugar?". It'll be strange to you.

That's the funny thing about habits. When they are there, they feel so natural, and you can't imagine ever changing. But they can just come and go in a matter of weeks.
