Cut Out The Sugar

Hi,

Here is some facts and numbers I came up with a while back. My mother was asking about diet cokes and unsweetened teas, so I did some research (I am sort of like that:jump: .

Any who, here is what I came up with:

Sugar has 4g of carbs per teaspoon, or 15 calories. Does not seem like much, but over the course of a day, week, month, and year, it all adds up. Take a look at what would happen of you stopped drinking sodas. Soda has about 160 calories per 12 oz drink, or 43g of sugar. If you drink one a day, over a year, this is 58,400 calories. There are 3500 calories in 1 lb of fat. For one year, if you stopped drinking soda, you would lose 16 pounds.

When I first came up with those numbers, I was shocked. But then it made sense. I changed jobs a few years back, and the new place I went to had no A/C, and everyone drank sodas. I then started drinking sodas everyday. At the end of the year, I bought larger waist sizes for my jeans. (HINT #1). I actually put on 20 pounds. I look back at the pictures and boy can I tell.

Anyway, thought you might like the info.

Sugar is poison

I'm finally stepping away and making small changes to my sugar intake. For years I was so tired and my dietitician explained that sugar was causing me to have high and lows ... my sugar would spike when I ingested refined sugar (pepsi, 4 tsp in my tea, ice-cream) and when I stopped consuming it, I immediately experienced a low and so I would become tired and listless and irritable ... and it was just adding to other health problems. I no longer take sugar in my tea but I struggle with pepsi.

It's not a good chemical though ... like caffein, it's a substance that needs to be moderated.
