cut on weekdays, bulk on weekends?

long story short, something like this is very appealing to my current situation
how efficient would this be doing for like 2 months?

Interesting. The weekends are popular days for people to forget about their diet and just eat whatever they please. There are some problems with this though. Firstly, i personally believe that if you go without something for long enough, you quit craving it, thus no longer want it. Having a binge day/s is only going to keep these cravings alive and you'll probably find yourself getting into the habit of eating a couple of junk food meals outside of your diet during the week, which will lead to another junk food meal, etc...You see where i'm going with this.

The other problem is that your body is going to like what it is getting fed on the weekends, so during the week it will go into almost a survival mode, slowing up your metabolism. This means that when you binge and greatly increase your calories on the weekend, your body will suddenly put on weight......(should point out that i'm not 100% certain on this paragraph).

Nothings stopping you from trying it but i don't think it will work.

Extremely likely that it will not work.

It takes time for the body to adapt to bulking OR cutting. This kind of change will probalby just lead to weight gain (fat). Besides, I can't imagine what your workout schedule will be.

You should probably choose one or the other for a few months at a time

They all said it well. The entire reason that bulking/cutting works is because the two phases have time to actually take effect.

I also advise you to consider the alternative to bulking/cutting: just getting steady, progressive gains. There's been a lot of research recently going against the concept of bulking/cutting.

For instance, you bulk and put on 2lbs. fat and 2lbs. muscle. Then you cut and lose 1lbs. fat and 0.5lbs. muscle. Net gain: 1lbs. fat and 1.5lbs. muscle.

Or, you go for the progressive approach and, over the same amount of time as both bulking AND cutting, put on 0.5lbs. fat and 1.5lbs. muscle.

I play Ultimate, where you want to be as light as possible. And I don't think many people enjoy gaining fat. But there are sports where just about any weight gain is good weight gain. That could be you.

I tried bulking and cutting for the past couple years, and it didn't really work out for me. Then I read a little bit online, and tried the constant approach this year, and I'm happier with it. I can imagine it would work better for some people and worse for others though, and you might find yourself at a plateau you can't shake with a constant routine. I do suggest you read about it at the very least though.

There is a theory that says the human body evolved to go through periods of feast and famine. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors could go for periods of time when they could not find adequate food sources and then make a kill or find a berry patch and gorge themselves for a day or two. The rest of that theory holds that the sudden surge in consumption is very anabolic and leads to lean body mass accumulation if not continued too long (which leads to excess fat storage). I have seen programs which advocate a 6 day deficit-1 day gorge, 12 day deficit-2 day gorge, or 2 week deficit-2 week gorge pattern and claim good results from them. I have not tried any of those myself, but if I were you and you have the discipline and opportunity to try one of them, do it and let us know how it works for you.
