Wood stoves are great and splitting wood is really good exercise. At least when you do it by hand.

Steve, look into fireplace inserts. They have glass fronts and look nice. Still get the fireplace affect.

I was thinking that Trops but do you think an insert would look good in a 300 year old home?

I'm not sure if you can get one that would, so that's a serious question.

Two fire places I refuse to cover up b/c they're original in the house. One of them is tall enough that I can walk right into it and still has the original cast iron swing arm to hang a kettle on to cook over the fire.

If they were normal fireplaces, I'd throw a wood stove in without hesitation.

The third fireplace isn't old as it's in the newest addition. however, it's also a walk in fireplace and not sure I want to screw with that.

I have to wait and see really.

You can always skip the insert and go with a free standing stove. That's what I did. Now I have a fireplace and a wood stove both in the same room.

I wouldn't give up a classic fireplace either, but in my case the stove I got just happened to not be an insert.

I suppose at least going and looking at wood stoves would be wise. The oil tank here is 500 gallons. Even with price of oil being down, I shudder at the thought of having to fill that up once per month!

There are a slew of them around. Check this site:

I don't burn just wood, I also use oil for hot water and supplements the heat when it's really cold, but I'll go through about 300-400 gal a year.

Thanks for that link!

That's what I want it for if I get one, to supplement my oil heat. At least buffer the expense a bit, lol.

After splitting next years wood the last two days, I'm thinking about selling firewood and getting paid for a workout. :sifone:

You can try to wrap the woods with something else. have you ever try alumunium foil? But it requires some extra work though

My father has sold firewood in the past. He has more wood than any private guy I've ever seen. He's been cutting it up for years... since I was a kid actually. I should take pictures of his pile for you.

It's actually a decent business if you like cutting wood. I know he does. Whenever someone needs a tree cut down or cut up after it falls... he's their go to guy. He's like a kid in a candy store with it, lol.

He used to tell me, "Get your ass out of the gym and put that muscle to use at the wood stack."

That shit is harder than it looks!

That shit is harder than it looks!

Damn skippy! I think that's part of what I like about it. It aint easy. My neighbor has a hydraulic splitter that he said I could use whenever I want, but I have yet to borrow it. I guess if the frontier folk didn't need one, why should I? :smash:

I know one thing... it has kept my father healthy and fit. If it weren't for that he'd be acting his age I truly believe.

So I was eating my Spinach-wrap-brown-rice-black-bean-avocado-salsa thingy and a blueberry-banana-flax-seed smootie :)D) this morning and almost freaked out when I read THIS out of my Buddhist primer that Vietnamese monk at the temple gave me:

Earnestness is the path of immortality (Nirvana), thoughtlessness the path of death. Those who are earnest do not die, those who are thoughtless are dead already.

Talk about a trip and a half! :eek2: What I get out of it, and I'll relate it to weight loss: Do not become stagnant and always remain funky-fresh in your diet and exercise regime. I'm sorry, but there it is, it stands THERE, ya'll KNOW, don't act like ya don't! :D

I have so much to say and so little time, let me just make it quick:
1. Acroyoga was the bomb--Sam (teacher from my retreat) was there, Delena (my primary Ashtanga yoga instructor) was there, and I got to "fly" in a backbend in the air held by a fellow Yogi's feet :D
2. Dubsteppin' was OFF THE HEEZEY and C and I pretty much danced the floor ON FIYAH!!! :flame:
3. Our town has the best DJs, WOW!
4. I ran into that Nick guy again! But he was drunker and chubbier than the last time I saw him, hmmm--still, gave him my number and yes I'm probably down to do him, hahaha!
5. C and I watched Rachel Brice belly dance and did drills at 4am  :svengo:
6. I was up at 9 am doing Yoga and pranayama and chakra meditation on the beach in the sunlight :D
7. I'm promoting Matty G for Subwize! OH MATTY G, WHY ARE YOU SO FRESH???????

We forgot to take pictures. DAMMIT!

I love Rachel Brice's style... so fluid and serpentine. In a way I have her DVDs to thank for getting in to yoga.

I'd love to see her perform live someday.

Sounds like you had one heck of a night.

that's an awesome weekend there :) glad you had fun.

now i have a feeling you have/know about some good beginner yoga videos. any links? i would appreciate it greatly :D

Whoa! You have got a serious LIFE chicka!!! you're certainly not going about it thoughtlessly, but DEFINITELY in earnest! HA! Immortality, sweet!

Oh, Rachel Brice is soooooo super awesome... man, the things she can do....

I FINALLY had another belly dance class again last night, was MAGICAL!!!

Think I'll be checking in here more often... more inspiration to live my life as wonderfully as you are yours!!!
