Crosstrainers vs. Ellipticals

I was just wondering if there was a difference between crosstrainers and ellipticals. I have been working out on an elliptical for a few weeks now and found a new crosstrainer. I noticed the speed on the crosstrainer is in miles/hr and the strides are longer on the crosstrainer...so is the crosstrainer supposed to simulate running?

Well Im not sure what a crosstrainer is but if youve been doing elliptical for a while now its always good to switch things up every once in a while. Is a crosstrainer like the gazelle on TV? just push yourself and youll be good.

I have no idea what the difference is... I just go to the gym and use both.. well at least whichever one is free. Theres so many people at the YMCA now.. I hate how it's so crowded.. but I think some will leave soon, after they get bored.

I still think the "january crowd" is in the gyms. my YMCA is way small so theres like 10 cardio machines and only a couple weight stations. so any weight lifters have problems finding lifting stations.

If the crosstrainer is what I think it is, then the elliptical is probably better. If you want something similar to running use a treadmill lol.

hmm, i always used the two words synonymously, but i know most people call the machines that I use at the gym ellipticals, so i'd have to say those are better :D.
If the gym is too busy, try a different time ... I go to the gym whenever I feel i can take a break from work (but always aim for first thing in the morning) and i find that right around 9 is perfect ... most people are on their way to work and it's just before the lunch crowd ... 2:00 can be a good time to.

in my city, all the downtown office workers start going to work around 6:30-7, and others go to work around 8-9. So at 5:30am is REALLY packed. As well as 4:00pm, because the high school kids get off school, which is right in the same building (I have no idea why they did that) and then at 5-6pm, all the people get off work and go.. so it's REALLY crowded then too.

But see then thing is I'm a student, and it's never crowded at 7:00am, 12-2, and after 9. So I can only go at 9 when it's not busy.. otherwise I have to suck it up.
