Creating a good defecit

I'm a 267 lb guy who needs about 3200 calories to stay my current weight. Well, I've been cutting back on my eating, and eating more healthfully so now my calorie intake is roughly around 2000 a day, walking 30-45 minutes daily PLUS 30 minutes of Hatha Yoga at night. Though it has only been 2 weeks, there hasn't been one pound dropped from my body. Yes my shirts fit better, and I'm more comfortable in a 1X than a 2X now, but I was really hoping for a weight change by now. Could I have shocked my body too much? It was all based on a one day decision and then the next day things were different. I did the same thing when I quit smoking, I just decided I was done and quit. It's now been about 6 months for the smoking and I have 0 craving. It's been two weeks for the lifestyle change, and no change in my weight at all. Am I expecting too much?

It sounds like you are on the right track.

Make sure you are getting all your macronutrients in.

Don't be that concerned with the numbers on the scale. As long as you are eating right and exercising, the weight will come off.

There has been times when I was stuck on a plateau for two weeks, and that one day I would step on the scale, and it would say I was down four pounds. The body is a very efficient yet mysterious machine.

edit: Also, if you haven't already, adding some weight training (resistance training) can be extremly benefical as well.

You didn't say what you eat, but for me it took me about 6 months to figure out what I could and could not eat. I was dropping VERY slowly even with a moderate calorie defecit. I was eating what I used to always eat, white flour, chips, crackers (those are my trigger foods) but as portions and counting the calories. Once I cut ALL that out, the weight started dropping. So maybe you're diet just needs tweaking?

My diet consists of whole wheat foods and multigrain. I love cereal, and I always have a craving for Frosted Mini Wheats, but I've cut those out and just eat Kashi type cereal and Special K now. I drink lots of water, but a glass or two of diet coke with meals. I haven't touched a regular Coke in almost a year. If I go out to eat at a restaraunt, I eat a salad or a chicken dish with no noodles, I don't eat red meat. No more Italian joints unless I can get whole wheat pasta, but what's the point of trying to find one when I can just make it myself for wayyyyyy cheaper? If I go to a buffet, I have 2 plates (down from my usual 4) and one is just a huge salad, an entree with portioned out mashed potatos, turkey and broccoli, with a bowl of fruit for desert. I eat out rarely though since I'm a college kid.

I'm not an expert or anything, just telling you what works for me. I'll make suggestions for you, hope you don't mind :) Cereal leaves me wanting more, triggers me, and there is still plenty of sugar in kashi and special k. All noodles trigger me, even whole wheat. I don't touch coke, not even diet, it dehydrates you. When you go out to eat and have chicken, make sure its white meat and see how they cook it. Sometimes grilled is NOT what you think it is! When you have salad, make your dressing olive oil and vinegar, skip the mashed potatoes and go for something like broccoli. Fruit is fantastic!

Tonight I'm having a stir fry, I've used about 2T olive oil for the entire dish for a family of 5. I've used 1T oil to sautee 1/2 a cabbage, 2C snow peas, 3C broccoli, 1 onion, 1 green pepper, and mushrooms. A little less oil for the shrimp I'm sauteeing. I've cooked 2 C of brown rice. I can pretty much eat as much veggies as I want and will limit my rice to 1C and my shrimp to .5-1C, depending on how much the kids and hubby get first! I may even add 1T soy sauce. HUGE meal, little calories! I stuff myself with this!

Yea I love Chinese food. Haven't had it in a while, but I can't wait until I do. I'm trying not to cut carbs a whole lot. What you're doing sounds lovely though and I'm glad it's working for you. :) I just know for a fact I can't live with out noodles!!! My girlfriend is Italian and it just makes it all the more difficult, not to mention she's a better cook than anyone I've met. Thanks for the tips though!

Just make sure your measuring and not just guessing on quanities of like cerals and such ( one cup is a lot smaller then I thought it was ) and it took me 3 weeks to drop that 1st pound so don't fret yet
