Crazys diary!!!

P.P.S. Since the weather is warmer---and I see you live in Texas, maybe you can do some "picnic" type meals and have dinner at the park every other week or so with the family.

You are doing awesome. Welcome to WLF. It has been the biggest help to me and I have used Steve's advice to for how much to eat. He believes a person should eat as much as possible while losing to promote long term adherence, so I am eating 20% below my maintenance. This keeps me from getting too hungry. I think for me the biggest thing has been not eating at night.

You are totally rockin the new lifestyle. It is so important to give up smoking and you are replacing it with a whole new mentality. How's it going? I used the patch to quit and it FREED me from the WORK of smoking. Its a waste of time when you could be doing something better.

Don't worry if your responsibilities take up most of your time. As long as you are thinking and wishing you could be exercising, that means you will when you get the chance. As Dariqueen told me, you can still lose weight without exercising.

You are doing so much good right now. Keep it up. Its a LOT of change to undergo at once.

Also, by determining 20% below maintenance number you can be sure you are in a deficit everyday. So you know each day has been a good one.

Maintenance = 15 calories x body weight in pounds.

Mine is 186 x 15 = 2790 calories

Minus 20% (558 calories)

= 2232 calories for diet

I aim for 2232 everyday.

The numbers seem high at first. But bigger bodies take more energy. As my weight dropped four pounds last month my maintenance dropped accordingly. I am eating less this month than last month but barely, like less than 50 calories less.

You are already tracking calories. Hope this helps. Let me know what you think.

How are you feeling today? You said hospice was called in for your grandmother...I hope she is as comfortable as possible. HUgs and blessing to you and your family. How is the qiuting smoking coming?

Hang in there you foxy thing.

:( Hospice has been called in with my grandmother.

I am the only homemaker in the family. so, I am the one who will be staying with her during the day. My uncle will come in each evening at 5:00.

I live 25 miles from her. I have to be there by 6:00 am.
I am trying to figure a way to do this...still eat healthy.
Come home and cook for the family and still fit in exercise.

Any suggestions

*UGH* The balance we all sing and dance abt tying to figure out...I often wonder if there is a balance - LOL...

Im droppin in to say hi from one foxy wmn to another...better late than never - LOL :D:D:D

Grandmother, has amazed us all. She celebrated her 81st birthday on April 15th.
she has started walking around a lil bit on her walker..she walked in the kitchen last week and asked me to hand her various items. I did, she then stired up banana bread...pinto beans..cornbread..I placed them on the stove and oven...she wouldn't let me mix them or anything..she wanted to do all she could. All this from a woman who the doctors thought wouldn't be here for more then 2 or 3 weeks after.December 29th.

Thank all of you for stopping bye and showing your care and concern.

My weight loss is going good. Not able to get in as much excersise as i would like..but at this point any is better then none.

That is amazing about your grandma. That is too cute that she wanted to mix everything herself and did not want you to do it. I am happy for her improvement.
It's good to hear that you are getting some exercise in. Every little bit counts, right?

Hello, again my diary.

I joined a gym yesterday evening. Did some cardio last night. I did some time on the treadmill and the Elliptical. That is when I found out just how out of shape I am. I am going to work really hard..ICAN do this and I am going to.

I woke this a.m. at 5:00..I ate a yoplait lite yogurt and a banana..plus 16 ounces of water..then I hit the gym around 5:45a.m.

I cycled for 20 minutes....did the Elliptical for 10 minutes. (That thing kicks my out of shape rear.)
Did the treadmill for 20 minutes.

Tomorrow I am going to start some strenght training. A guy named Pete showed me today how to work some of the eqquipment. He is a personal trainer. We discussed his fees and what he would want me to do. He said he would expect 1 hour, two times a week from me..intense training. I have decided to wait and maybe even find a different trainer. I had told him that I have not exercised in years and I was just now getting to where I can walk a mile at a time without stopping. He still said we needed to do an hour 2x a week.

He may be right..however at this point I plan to swing it on my own and go with how my body feels.

I will do cardio 3x a week to begin and strength 2x a week.

Breakfast was oatmeal. (1 cup)

Lunch Yikes another story. ! Krystal cheese and a side salad. :eek2:

Snack: medium apple and 1 TBSP peanutbutter.

Dinner: 1 cup spaghetti..1/2 cup spaghetti sauce and 1 piece BBQ bread...garlic salt.

Snack a banana pop. 35 calories and satisfies my sweet tooth.

I'm here to wish you well on the HC too..lol. Well, I jsut read your diary. Looks like you could use some support and encouragment--can't we all?:)

I'm pretty excited about this challenge--hoping to kick start some more weight loss. How have things been going for you lately?:hug2:

Hi there!
I'm Paul.
I just wanted to drop by and say Hello. We're on the same Halloween Challenge team and I'll be stopping by to cheer you on ! Best of luck to you !
Paul

Hey Teammate!

Hang in there! I just read your diary and you've really had a difficult past few months. Many kudos to you for sticking with your diet and exercise as much as possible.

I wanted to say hello and make sure you didn't think I backed out of the Halloween Challenge since I've been AWOL for a few days. This has been an insane weekend for me so this is a one-time copy/paste to all of our teammates. I'll get back to original posts after everyone leaves. I was in a car accident Friday evening. I'm a little sore but fine. My car will need some work, though. I spent most of Saturday getting estimates, grocery shopping and cooking for a group of friends who arrived Saturday evening from the east coast. I went for a long 1-1/2 hour bike ride yesterday morning before everyone got up, and had planned to post here after that, but they were awake when I got back.

I have some self control issues and then me-bashing issues, so I decided on some sneaky meal plans for my friends. They're in my diary so I won't rewrite here, but I'm very proud of myself !

Looking forward to 'losing' with you in the Halloween Challenge!

Just wanted to stop by & say Hi & wish you luck with the bonus challenge this week. Its a lot of water, but I am feeling better already... other than the frequent bathroom treks!

Wow........I have been able to stick pretty much with my eating plan and exercise. suprised my ownself considering my current stress factors.

oldest son who has severe mental condition recently moved in my house. (that has been one heck of a challenge):drooling:

First child to actually move out in the usual way (middle son) moved out.
He has since moved back in but..........:p
I lost my counselor and two doctors all in one month they took new directions in their careers. Docs added 2 new meds for me. One being synthroid. Even thought my thyroid is fine they feel that my other meds need a boost to work ..seeing that my roller coaster ride with the Bi-polar is currently intense. (wonder why lol) I tried to tell them STRESS!!!!!! but ne wayz. That is just the tip of the iceberg as far as stressors go.
But I am coping quite well and staying focused. Yay me!!!:rotflmao:

Have increased fruits and veggies. Drink lotsssssss of water approx. average a day is 100 plus ounces.

Still having a hard time getting in as many calories as I should. I am working hard on that. Steve would wring my neck. Hi Steve.

I am wondering if maybe the quanity of water I drink may have something to do with the hard time I am having consuming calories. may toss that one out in forums later.

Over all I am proud of myself and my progress with my weight loss, current handling of lifes lil curves, and adapting to a lifestyle change.

I don't get a chance to write in my diary much. I need to work on that.

You are right to be proud of yourself for handling your stress well. It can't be easy.

Yeah, that water might be making your appetite smaller. Still, try to eat more--don't want to go into starvation mode. ;)

Having to force myself to eat well and exercise this week. Thank God for this Halloween challenge. Knowing I have obligated myself to a challenge where my dedication affects the entire team has kept me going.

The mixed episodes with the bi-polar are making it extremely challenging when the depressive part kicks in.

Do you have medication for the bi-poloar depression, mood swings? Being depressed sucks. I had a lot of it this week, myself. :hug2::hug2:

Nonetheless, I give you a big pat on the back for forcing yourself to eat well and exercise. Nice job, taking one for the team...lol:D

Yes...I am on meds have been since I was 25. I will be 42 tomorrow. That is where some of my weight came from. Stupid side effects. Only a small amouut was meds though. The meds I take now donot have weight gain as a side effect.

Thanks for asking.

I ate freaking chocolate ice cream today. Oh well...I am human...back on track in the am. Lost of extra exercise this week. That should help with that chocolate.

Other than that I am doing good overall.
I am keeping my water intake to a good level..minimum of 64 oz a day.
I am trying new veggies and finding I like things I always thought I didn't. :)
