Female

Late 30's

5feet 4 inches tall

Very energetic at times

Was a fit 10 stone 7lbs last summer & regular gym user

New full time job took over and piled weight on, no gym, what happened????

Recent back pain and trapped nerve has given me a bit of a wake up call

Really want to peak at my fitness at some point and 1st goal 10 stone 6lbs.

Right, after being a yo yo dieter for a long time, I am determined now not just to shift the weight I have quickly piled on (again), I need to learn about triggers and just simply eating control, portions sizes etc etc etc.

Really excited about making some changes, I can really feel the 20 plus pounds I've put on and felt a million dollars last year when I got down to goal. Why pile it on in winter? This yo yo activity has got to stop.

Wish me luck. 1st weigh in 25/05/2009

Hey there! Good job at starting a diary!

One thing that Has helped me is eating slower, Instead of scarfing i Eat as slow as possible and you dont feel as hungry or eat as much! its great!

Good luck in your weight loss journey!

Tip number 1

Thanks for that, I need all the motivation I can get, I have really lost the plot with this and you know what its like, the more fed up you get the more you eat. BUT, I have decided things are going to change and I really hope this forum gives me that all important support I need. Looks like you are doing pretty well yourself, well done.

Cheers Baby, eat slower.........

Hi!
Slower eating is good. Also portion control is essential! I use a smaller plate, and even measure my food sometimes to make sure I am not getting out of control with "eyeballing" sizes.

I also recommend daily exercise! Enough that you really break a sweat.

Best wishes on your journey :waving:

New start & thanks

Thanks so much, its lovely to have the support from people.

Last year I got really fit and felt great but as usual I pile it back on and cannot see the wood for the trees, I've never really addressed this issue and part of joining this forum is to take control and learn about habits. When the weight creeps up, its causes huge problems with sciatica so I am hobbling a bit at the moment and a few back issues. I can however walk to and from work around 40 minutes so its a start until this nerve gets itself back where it belongs. I can then resume the gym/swim where I pay a membership.

A few small changes today, drink more water and stop wanting miracles overnight, take it easy.

3 x weetabix, 1/2 pint skimmed milk, 2 x small apples, 2 x slices thick ham, 1 slice cheese, 1 x slice wholemeal bread, handful raw carrot batons & 5 large mushrooms (snacks), Medium chicken breast with spoonful of pesto, cherry toms, 5 very small new potatoes. 1 x fox's mint.

25/5/09 - 168.75lbs (10 minutes home stepper)
26/5/09 - 166.75lbs (40 minutes regular walking - 20 mins pilates)
27/5/09 - 165.75lbs

I have to say the trapped nerve is feeling better already, 3lb lighter and pushing myself to do exercise especially the pilates was a move in the right direction. I had never done pilates until recently and didn't realise just how much it works your muscles, brilliant.

Small changes today, ensure I walk to and from work or hobble as the case may be, aim for more water and enjoy my food, eating slower.

3weetabix, 1/2pt sk milk, vitamins, handful carrot batons, feta dip one spoon, wholemeal pitta, 4 wafer thin ham, 1 spoon relish, 2 apples, 8 pickles, bio yogurt low fat, slimfast shake (lazy day), cuppa soup.

START WEIGHT 25/5/09 - 168.75lbs
----------------------------------

25/5/09 - 168.75lbs - (10 minutes home stepper)
26/5/09 - 166.75lbs - 2lbs (40 minutes regular walking - 20 mins pilates)
27/5/09 - 165.75lbs - 1lb (40 minutes regular walking - 20 minutes pilates)
28/5/09 - 164.75lbs - 1lb (20 minutes pilates X 2)

Well day 4 and already feeling a little better in myself, the trapped nerve is shifting somewhat and I am feeling more determined than ever. Really thinking about what I am eating or not thinking about it if that makes sense. Not thinking about those snacks and chocolate and crisp snacks which have become such an unnecessary habit of late.

Eating more fresh fruit and veg is already lifting my mood.

3 X weetabix, 1/2 pt sk milk, carrot batons, spoon houmous large, 1 x small cracker low fat, apple, pro biotic low fat yog, wholemeal pita, thin ham, spoon relish, handful pickled onions, slimfast shake (lazy tea). Didnt manage less diet coke, will work on it.

Small changes today, aim to drink lots of water and have a day with less diet coke as I don't think my habit with diet coke is particularly healthy.

Small changes are good. One little tiny step is good as long as you can keep it going and add another one later.

I like what I'm seeing so far here. Looks like you have a good plan. Sounds like accountability and keeping a habit going might be your areas to work on (mine too).

I'll stop by and fill your diary full of support, random thoughts and occasionally perverted humor if thats okay with you? Cya around!

BTW, I'm Karl

Hi Karl

Thanks for the encouragement, I am on a serious mission to sort this weight out and keep it down once and for all. I like being fitter and lighter, it makes me feel tons better so why do I sit and trough and put it on when life changes happen, ridiculous.

Anyhow, good to see you and hope you are doing just great too.

Had a good day today, proud of myself so far. Thanks again.

Thank you for visiting my diary page. It looks like you're off to a great start. I know what you mean about the pilates. I got a dvd a few years ago when I was in better shape and I couldn't even get through the first part.

Feeling pretty good Meme, thanks for saying hi and for the encouragement it works wonders, hope you have a lovely day. I had never done pilates although was recommended due to my recent back/trapped nerve trouble. Its absolutely working wonders and in only a few days I am amazed at how much its toning my arms and sides. Brilliant. People swear by it.

Well this is proving to be a great first week a bit more moving around, nothing thats killing me and just cutting the crap out of my diet, I havent been hungry once and I've used my snacks sensibly. Great.

25/5/09 - 168.75lbs - (10 minutes home stepper)
26/5/09 - 166.75lbs - 2lbs (40 minutes regular walking - 20 mins pilates)
27/5/09 - 165.75lbs - 1lb (40 minutes regular walking - 20 minutes pilates)
28/5/09 - 164.75lbs - 1lb (20 minutes pilates X 2)
29/5/09 - 163.75lbs - 1lb

Got a short holiday after today so need to muster up much motivation for that although I think I have my mind set, I so want to do this for myself. Exercise and great food is lifting the mood no end.

You're losing weight at a great pace! Yes, small things do help! Looks like you're doing a good job so far. Good Luck!

Thanks so much, bit stressful here packing for the hols but not once this week have I been tempted to binge, I always say the more I exercise the less I want to eat rubbish. This forum is helping me stay motivated, absolutely marvellous. Cheers.

3 x weetabix, 1/2pt sk milk, cuppa soup, 2 x weight watchers bics, carrot batons, houmous, raw mushrooms, wholemeal sandwich with wafer thin ham and relish, no butter. 1 x apple, slimfast shake for lazy tea. Snackajack, packet. Again not been hungry, just seem to be eating at the right times and snacking on raw veg really helps, lovely dipped in houmous.

See you when I get back if I dont manage to log on Sat morning. Wish me luck.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WEEK 2 - Holiday 31/5/09 - 03/06/09 - forgot scales so no weigh in
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

04/06/09 - 163.8 - +1.8 (Pilates 20 mins, walk 20 mins)

Ok, I have been away since Saturday and thought I was doing ok, really thinking twice about what I eat without it feeling too much pressure. Lots of walking around etc but then the last couple of days, slipped into old habits again. Been in a lot of pain with my trapped nerve, very worrying now and saw this as an excuse to comfort eat.

I realise what I am doing and I would like to learn how to NOT do this most days not DO it 2 out of 5 if that makes sense. I am pretty ok with putting on under 2lbs of weight, I can live with that as I know I could have put on more, even in such a short space.

Its early days, I'm learning.

3 x weetabix, half pt sk milk, bowl of choco cornflakes and sk milk (lazy lunch), piece of coley fillet, peas, 2 x waffles. Apple. 1 cadbury dessert, pack of quavers

Feeling pleased with myself that I lost the bit I put on whilst away so really going for it today, see if I can end the week tomorrow with a little more off. Really finding this diary useful.

'Tis always good to see holiday weight that goes away quickly!

Did you at least enjoy the time you had whilst putting the weight on, ever so briefly? Because then its all good especially since it left!

Hi there Karl

I did enjoy it and I feel it was the last day or two that I put it on, was only away for 5 days. Got a few issues with the back at the moment, out of the blue so had to come home early as camping wasnt doing it much good and it was freezing at night, when you are out of action, its hard to warm up.

Emotional eating, Im not going there as much as I'm in pain. I've done well today, thanks for checking in on me. These little habits we form, whether it be food or other, nothing like something in the same boat to understand.

Hope you are doing ok, will check you out later when I can sit for a bit longer.

Cheers.

3 x weetabix, half pt sk milk, lunch - 1 x apple, kiwi fruit, slimfast shake, pack of quavers, Dinner - prawns, 2 x wholemeal bread, light spread of olive spread, few chunks of pineapple, mixed bean salad, dollop of seafood sauce, 30g of feta cheese. 2 x light wafer sticks with hazelnut choco inside.
