Confused, managed to loose weight when I did 'skip' lunch

Friends, i need advice! :( :( :(

I was experiencing two 'periods' of exercise schedule and have been wondering -and confused- which one is more effective;

1) A few months ago, I did cardio 3 times a week during lunch hour, each 45'-1hr. Most of the times I used only the treadmill. After workout I only had some fresh fruits as my lunch, sometimes got afternoon light snack. Managed to loose 1kg in 1-1.5week. And loose some body fat too. But i dont think it's healthy enough for long term, and i don't think I want to live with skipping my lunch forever :(

2) Currently I'm restarting my exercise regime, on my third week. Sign up for pilates class once a week, and having 1-2 times a week for workout on my own (i do circuit training, i.e. treadmill 5-10mins, then weight lifting on some machines one to another, then treadmill again 5-10mins). This circuit training is actually introduced to me when I got free personal training session in the gym. This time i do my workout after office hours. So I have my normal lunch, and i try to have veggies, cut my carbs, and drink at least 1.8L water a day.
Problem is, what I see on the scale, my weight is just going up and down. After weekend it'll be back on my original state, during weekdays it sometimes goes down. But, mathematically speaking, the resultant is still around my original state! Maybe down by 0.1 - 0.3 kgs.
I was thinking this one is healthier approach. But the result doesn't say that

Do i need to skip my normal lunch? as in having one set of meal with carb, meat, and veg.
Does cardio works better for me than the circuit training?

TIA!

Hello! Another post written by another girl here, had the same problem and she ended up losing 5 lbs, I think after the 3rd week or something like that. It's never good to weigh yourself everyday even though we all do it. IT really makes it harder to understand how weight loss work because most of the time you don't see it everyday but like the other girl spiratically 3 weeks later.

Make sure you eat your lunch and maintain a lifestyle you can continue after you reach your goal. If it takes longer to lose, so be it. It will probably be easier to keep it off that way.

If you are lifting, then the weight loss will be slower cause you are gaining muscle. You make want to use one of the scales that measures fat too or check measurements because the scale won't tell the real results. From the trainers I have had experiences with, they have all recommended long stints on the treadmill and not short ones.

Also on the weighing issue, I like to weigh myself everyday. I think it is fine as long as you realize that weight will go up and down with water retention. If I would only weigh myself once a week and the one day I do it is one of my heavier days, I might feel unmotivated. But by doing it everyday, you get a real feeling of where your at on the scale and can ignore the daily ups and downs.

Just my thoughts, but main thing is do stuff that you can maintain like eating a healthy lunch and not skipping it.

Good luck with the weight loss!!!

From my understanding, if you are not getting enough calories you body will think that it needs to hold on to what its got. So you won’t lose weight very fast by skipping meals. It is better to have multiple little meals thru the day but if you can’t do that don’t skip lunch your body needs the fuel. When I upped my fiber intake (slowly) that really helped me to lose weight because the fiber will absorb sodium, fat, water, etc. and escort it out of your system. It sounds like you are on a great path as to the exercise. Maybe try fruit as a snack in the morning and afternoon and a reasonable breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Take care,

Michelle

15kgtolose: what's 'long stints on the treadmill '?
And yes, i'm lifting. Main reason is, one trainer once told me that i need weight lifting, besides my cardio, to speed up the process of weight loss -and it did sound tempting for me :D -
Is that true..? or depends on each individual?

Wachee: yaaa... Another advice i was told is to have multiple little meals throughout the day. but with my current daily lifestyle, it's almost impossible :( Once i get hooked with my works, i will hardly move from my chair for hours.
So i guess i shouldn't skip my lunch, instead, i'll try to have a proper lunch and choose healthier option whenever possible ;)
