Confuse about how many calories to eat a day???

500 calories less a day than you need to maintain.

What that is changes. What is your current weight, height, age, activity level, etc.
 
I had went to a website called shapefit.com to calculate my daily calories per day, and it was 2551 calories per day because I am moderately active because I exercise 5 times a week. so I subtract 500 from the 2551 which will be 2001 calories per day, but is that too many calories?
 
Not at all. It's a rough estimate but 2000 is a pretty healthy number of calories. You could go even lower (not too low that is). You are looking to lose 1-2 pounds a week. That seems to be the average healthy range
 
Oh okay, sometimes I hear people say eat 1500 calories per day that's when I thought that is the amount of calories I should eat to lose weight. What is your BMR number for?
 
BMR is how many calories a day you are burning just existing at your current weight. 500 less than that a week is one pound lost.
