Completely new to working out

Hello all,

I'm new to working out and want to start working on a good fitness regime to lose weight and tone up, but I have no idea what exercises to do or for how long or anything.

I'm 20 years old, male, 5' 8" and ~230lbs. I would say that I'm overweight but in good shape for it. I try to make it to the gym 2 days a week; tuesdays and thursdays. On tuesdays I do my cardio and lower body and thursdays I do arms and back.

Almost all of my fat is in my upper body (belly, love handles and unfortunate man-boobs) and I want it gone! I hate running.

What I'm looking for are some tips or workout schedules I should follow, maybe links to regimes or just give me one or something. I can go to the gym every day if that is suggested, I'm at University in New Hampshire and the gym is literally in eyeshot of my apartment.

Cheers,
Paradigm

Sorry, one other thing: I don't eat breakfast or lunch usually. I know it's a terrible habit, but I have a limited number of meals and I'm trying to conserve them. What I generally do is grab a muffin between 10am - noon and then eat dinner at 7:00ish.

I know this is bad, as I stated, but is there a way to incorporate this successfully?

okay your diet should be as good as your workout. cut back on fat intake. 50% carbs and 50%protein. 5 small meals a day. do not skip breakfast trust me this is the effective way of getting a good body. you need to do muscular endurnce workouts which is. 15 - 20 reps, 4 sets of any exercise. 45 mins of wieght training then 15 - half hour low intensity cardio. make sure that when you are doing wieght when you hit 15 reps it should be burning your muscle. this means your working them. and if you don't have a clue about weights i suggest a personal trainer so you get your form right. but if your good and study the exercises and how to do them your should be alright. if you really just want to lose fat. i would say cardio only because jogging still works your muscles out. high intense jogging for 20 mins the half hour low intense cardio or longer. and then after you lose your fat you can build muscle with heavy intense weight training. In addition working out and eating a healthy diet, I find that a tracking tool is very helpful when I’m trying to get to my goal weight. has an amazing weight tracker tool, as well as other trackers that promote a healthy life style.
