Cold Lunch Suggestions?

My office does not have a kitchen or lunch area. I have a microwave, but when I use it, the smell of my lunch overpowers the office for the rest of the day. That's not so good for clients and it makes me hungry for the rest of the afternoon.

Does anyone have any suggestions for lunches that I can still bring to work, but don't need warming? I'm not much of a sandwich eater because the nitrates in cold cuts give me a headache.

Thank you.

I like to have salad-type lunches... depending on your specific diet plan maybe with pasta or potatoes thrown in??

Quite filling and lots of room for variety. :)

Wraps with salad, canned tuna, boiled egg.
Salads with beans, lentils, nuts and seeds.
Crackers, homemade dips, raw veges.

If you don't have a fridge take an insulated lunch bag with an ice brick in it.

I say... care less about what others have to smell for a little while, and more about what's healthy and satisfying for you to eat at lunch time... I mean, don't other people use the microwave or are they too busy at the fast food joint down the road. It's not gonna smell like food all day, and peoles noses will get used to it

Chicken salad- but spicy-- You can use leftovers from roasted chicken
rough chopped with onion or scallions and celery may be some egg. Moisten with the lite mayo of your choice... I like to add a bit of the Sriracha Hot Chili sauce -- (Has a rooster on the bottle bright green cap found in the asian food section) Make a wrap with the chicken salad add some lettuce/spinach and maybe a little avacado. Or just put a scoop over your favorite salad mix.

Add some of the hot sauce to a little whipped Philly cream cheese and spread over your wrap/tortilla before adding a filling.

As I am German I love Sandwiches (but I guess ours are quiet different from yourse) However as the meals at my University are a way to expencive and really not that healthy I do not eat them. But I do not have a place to cook or even no microwave overe there therfore I have a whole lot of things I take with me:

Sometimes I just take whole-grain bread with salad, cuke, tomatos and cottage cheese/philadelphia/chicken or whatever (by the way...that is what I would call a sandwich...;) )
I allways have vegetables or fruits with me (you can easily eat them in the lectures...espcially when those are boring *g*)
And if I cook rice or pasta with sauce I take it with me and eat it cold, it is really tasty
Or I take all kinds of self-made salads with me
It takes some time to make it in the morning, but it is a way better than eating the cheap chocolat bars when you are hungry :Angel_anim:

Thank You For Your Suggestions

Thank you very much for all of your suggestions. I'd forgotten all about these foods. I can't open any windows in my office and the smell from anything cooked in the microwave lingers for DAYS.

Hey!

I love cold chicken pasta salad. Here is how I make it..

I take out 4 chieken breasts and throw them in my skillet with 2 tablespoons of italian dressing, some red pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder...

After they are cooked all the way through I mix the chicken with whole grain spiral noodles.

I put in about 2 more table spoons of italian dressing and mix up, put in the fridge.

It tastes really good cold, its healthy, and something different...give it a try
