Hi all! I just found this site and it seems like a good site so I decided to join :D Basically, I am an 18 yr old pre-vet student in my third year of college. I weigh 160 at 5'7'' and would really like to get down to about 130 or so and not only be thinner, but more healthy and flexible...

I have SOOO much information in my head that I really don't know how to get started with diet and/or exercise, but I'm sure lurking around here will give me some good starters :D

Welcome to the forum!

Lurking will certainly help, read stickies, other posts, etc. Asking questions will also help! You can start a diary to keep track, and people give great feedback everywhere I've visited around the site! Hopefully things make sense and you can feel comfortable with your workout and diet, and start to think of it as a lifestyle change instead of just a way to get to a happy weight.

Welcome aboard.

You say you know a lot of information about losing weight. Don't let this freeze you.... as many get tripped up on all the minutia and never do the important things, like:

- consistent action

- eating less calories than they expend

- find a mode of exercise that works for you, a combo of some aerobic and weights would be best

Losing weight isn't rocket science, even though many like to lead you to believe it is. Do you have specific questions?

I definitely suggest reading through the stickies here. Start with the 'words of wisdom' thread.

Thank you Steve! I think I'm ok so far. I have had success in the past with weight watchers, so that will be my 'diet' portion. The only thing is I never paired an exercise regime with that, so now it's just a matter of getting my workout plan together. I want to start running so I downloaded a beginners 8 week running plan, and I am purchasing this treadmill... ...(which also has the ifit workout technology which might help motivate me a bit) because I despise gyms. I guess only time will tell!!! Thanks so much!!!
