Close to where I'd like to be

Hello everyone. I stumbled upon this forum and registered in hopes that it will give me the motivation that I need to make the last little push toward my weight goal. I’m 33 years old, 6’ 1” and currently hovering right above 200 pounds.

In April ’08, I was the heaviest I’ve ever been at just over 230 pounds. After some serious lifestyle changes, lots of exercise, and closely monitoring what I ate, I was able to drop down to 195 pounds by the end of the summer. Once the Fall and Winter came, I wasn’t able to exercise as much as I did during the Spring and Summer months and I slowly started reverting back to some of my bad eating habits. However, I only put back on between 5 to 10 pounds by the time Spring rolled back around.

This Spring and Summer, I tried getting back into the same mindset that was successful for me last year but I constantly seem to sabotage whatever progress that I make. I know what I’m doing wrong and me joining this forum is an attempt to make me accountable to myself for the things that I know I need to do and the things I need to stop doing.

My goal is to get within the 185 to 195 window and maintain it. I would like to reach my goal before the temperature begins to drop too much. Hopefully joining the WLF family and participating in some of the group challenges will help me achieve my goal faster than I would have on my own.

Hi hi!
Welcome to the board!
I'm new(ish) too! I joined for the same reasons.
Somehow seeing my posts about what I've eaten or how much I've exercised makes
me confront issues that I've tried very hard to avoid :)
Plus you'll find people here are so supportive. It's awesome!
Enjoy, and looking forward to hearing about your progress!

Solomon, you should hit up the diary section and start up a journal. Even if you aren't trying to lose a ton of weight or anything right now it gives you sort of a home base to put down your thoughts and track your progress.

Good call on the cycle commuting too btw. I don't commute (I wish I could though), because of my shift which is a night shift. If I were doing days I would at least for part of the week. Glad you joined my cycling thread.

Thanks MakeMeHappy and reluctantcabbie. I've been stumbling my way around the sight for the last couple of days and I haven't found everything it has to offer. I did find the Weight-Loss Table and entered my info into there. Unfortunately I didn't join soon enough to hop in on August's weight challenge or the Triathlon challenge that ran through July, but I'm looking forward to upcoming challenges. I'm definitely glad that I joined the forum and I will most certainly head over to the diary section and check out starting up a journal. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. Well done on the weight loss that you have already achieved - and good luck with last bit. I know that the last bit seemed to take for ever for me. I am still learning all about maintenance.

There are challenges that run all the time - the birthday challenge comes to mind... Why not check that out. Most of the monthly weight loss challenges are more than happy to have new people join part way through the month. The challenge that I am running is nearing the end now - but may be a shock to anyone's system to try to join now - but people would be more than welcome.

I agree with the advice to start a diary and visit others in their diaries. It is a great way of building a support network.
