Close to my goal... How do you stay motivated?

Hey everyone!

So I'm 33, 5'9 and about 155. Which is good for me since I wanna keep some curves. I'm at the gym about 6 times a week. I do Zumba twice a week, I play volleyball once a week and coach it once a week and I do free weights about 4 times a week.

That being said, I do want to lose about 10 more pounds and I just can't make myself do that extra cardio. I eat pretty good but I could use some motivation in that area too. I've got a girl's trip to Hawaii in Febuary and I want to look fabulous!!!
:eek2:

So I'm wondring what everyone else does to motivate themselves.

Small goals over a short period of time are relatively easy to stick to, as oppose to massive goals over a huge amount of time. For example, right now, I suspect that my back squat 1RM is about 130kg, and in the next 6 weeks I want to hit 140kg. +10kg onto my squat over 6 weeks? I think I can make that happen. And because it's such a short duration, I'm going to avoid missing any sessions that would contribute to me reaching that goal. But if the goal were any bigger (in either level of improvement or duration given to get there), it'd seem too far away, and giving less than I can towards it today wouldn't seem like such a big deal.

Now, 10lb is a 6-12 week goal, really. If I were you, I'd aim to lose 5lb by December, and then once you've lost 5lb, aim to lose another 5lb by [6 weeks away from whenever you lose the first 5lb].

Personally, I think you should be more concerned with nutrition than exercise. You're already very active. One Snickers bar is 238kcal, which is about as much as a 45min walk. 1 cup of mash potato is 223kcal and not very high in nutrients. The same calories could come from a 130g steak, but you'd at least get more out of it, and possibly not need as much food over all.

I guess your workout is perfectly fine until you can continue regularly. You would get your desired result. What about your diet? You need to work out in that particular area. Just read of all suggestion with care and if possible add something in your current diet.

There are numerous diet plans that can tell you how to lose weight fast. Some work better than others for fast weight loss, some are easier to stick to than others, and some are less expensive than others.
I recommend choosing such one which makes it easier to stick to and keep losing weight. Sometimes the need to lose weight fast doesn't translate into keeping the pounds off.

The thing to remember when choosing a diet is to choose one you can stay on for a longer term if you have more than a couple pounds to lose. Look for flavor, variety, and ease of food preparation. Make sure the diet has solid success stories from people like you.

The first thing that anyone considering a diet plan to lose 10 pounds fast needs to do is seek a doctor's advice on the plan to they want to follow.

Your physician will be able to provide their educated advice on the diet after a full physical examination, which will let you know if this plan is right for you.

Keep in mind that this diet plan is proven but success depends on proper implementation.
