Clicking sound in left side of lower back when doing sit ups

Hi

I'm 20 years old and over the past month and a half I've been doing alot of no weight excercises like push-ups, sit ups, crunches, leg raises, squats, etc.

I've been doing sit ups over tha past month and a half with no problems. A day ago as I was doing my sit ups, i heard and felt a clicking sound on the left side of my lower back. This now happens everytime I go back to the ground after doing the sit up.

Its not painful, but I can hear and feel a clicking of the bones in that area that I didn't feel before. I don't think I'm doing my sit ups the wrong way, although I don't use a mat when I do it, infact I do it on a pretty hard surface. Any idea on what could be causing this and what I should do?

Thanks

Patrick

I know it's not an answer to help you, but I have this same problem. So you're not alone. It happens on crunches, situps, leg raises, etc. I don't know if your (and mine) spine (or hips?) is slightly out of alignment from the workouts? But it is un-nerving and annoying!

I have started doing some of my ab work with a workout ball -- no funny back noises when I do that.

Look forward to hearing if someone has a good answer for us both!
