Hi im Kristy and my New Year's resolution is to lose weight, I started January 1st and a very helpful forum member suggested that i should start a diary since ive had a rocky start sticking to my diet...i will record what i ate for the day in this diary and probably what exercise i did....

Breakfast:
Rice Cake 50 cals
Dry cereal 100 cals

Lunch:
Medium Chef's Salad 400? cals

Dinner:
Turkey Cheese & Lettuce Sandwich 282 cals
Serving of Ranch Lays 150 cals Total:1,132

Snack:
Twinkie:) 150 cals

I also worked out for 30 mins. at the Y...i did 2.35 miles alternating every .15 between 3.7 and 6.5...Im proud today was a good day after a lot of screw up ones...I have before pictures posted in that forum if anyone wants to see them...

See, I like the fact that sweets, even Twinkies, are all right as long as you account for them in your food plan. The trick is to remember that they are not the main thing you eat. :D
Keep doing it this way and you'll be losing quickly!

Howdy,Monkey,
Yay you made your way here I am telling
you this will help alot! Congrats on keeping track of your food
here is 1 little tip that may make your snacking a little healthier
they have a reduced fat twinkies that may cut down the cals
and fat by some and was told they taste the same.I love my sweets
to and I have a hard time subbing my sweets cravings for fruits ect
so I have a stach of healthier versions weight watchers has
frozen deserts all between 140-220 cals they also make shelf
deserts such as carrot cales cream filled mini cakes90-120 cals.
So by subbing your snack for a reduced version will kill the crave and
you still enjoy something you love.:) :)

Congrats on the exerscing looks good.I am off to check out before pic.
Goodluck girl and I am here for ya,Tammy:D

So hit the treadmill for half an hour :D Or do some other form of mild exercise to make up for the extra helping of helper.

One thing I do is buy low-carb pasta and will make that instead of the stuff from the box. It just helps reduce some of the calorie/carb content of the food and makes it less unhealthy. It's not available everywhere, I know, but it might be something you can do.

It looks like you are still following calorie guidelines pretty well, but you may want to skip the beef fingers next time. ;)

:D Howdy Monkey,
Just checking to see how your day is going!
Yeah you'll find the 1st week you fall off and hop on and eventually
it does get better less and less falling off and more and more staying on.
The only thing that looked bad was eating late night if you have your
Pasta (portion controlled) earlier in the day it helps give ya energy for
when you work out and maybe using lean meat to make might cut down
the cals and fat.Your doing good and like I said before this will help ya.
Your doing awesome with your exersicing.Have a nice day....Tammy:)

I will get scolded for this one but i didnt get to work out today because the Y was packed full of those old ladies who are on all the treadmills for 2 hours walking at like .5....i mean good for them excerise but still...atleast that could move instead of scoot i know they arent that old...and i didnt count calories because ive felt guillty all day about yesterdays eating disaster...ive had a cup of hot chocolate....a few chips and 3 bites of a sandwich and now a peppermint....i know its unhealthy but idk....my conscious is killing my appetite lol.....

Today was an alright day...i did 25 mins/ 2miles on the treadmill...

Breakfast:
like a fourth of an apple 30 cals?

Lunch:
Chicken sandwich plain with lettuce and tamato 400 cals
1 or 2 patato wedges and 1 bite of a cookie 100 cals?

Dinner:
one large order fried rice 600 cals??

Total: 1, 130

Howdy Monkey,
Don't look like a bad day at all way to go!
Congrats on getting on the Dreadmill and doing 2 miles lol
I hope you didn't knock some poor old lady off of 1 tho :p !
Hope ya have a great Friday,Tammy:)

On your meals:
Next time, eat the whole apple for breakfast and make it a small fried rice for dinner ;)

Honestly, it looks like you are moving into a comfortable food plan and probably could use some MORE calories in your diet, if you want to maintain it.

Are you getting any side effects from eating such a small amount of food? Are you taking a multivitamin to keep your nutrients up?

I havent taking any vitamins but i havent seen any side effects either really besides good ones on the scale! I did get sick which usually doesnt happen to me and it did last longer than it should i have....and if i stand up after laying down sometimes i get dizzy and my vision kinda starts going a little black.....im not sure what that is from has any one else experienced that?

Yeah, I used to get that all the time when I was not drinking enough water and working hard, or if I would go a day or two without eating. It has to do with how well your blood can process the oxygen, is what the doctor told me. I passed out in the shower one time, fell on the handles and spigot, bent them and bruised my ribs. It was UGLY.
Your diet seems low in calories and high in starches, to me; there's very little protein in it, you may wish to add a little more meat; the chicken salad is good, but it isn't a full day of protein, I wouldn't think.
It's great the way you can handle the low amounts of food, though. It seems you have the hardest part licked, I still can't get used to small food amounts in my diet.

Howdy Monkey,
I have had the light head feeling a few times
but not all the time I figured maybe lack of sleep because I drink
atleast 96 ozs of water a day and that is all I drink no pops ect.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend,Tammy

May I ask what your calorie goals for each day are? It seems your eating towards 1100? Also what is your height and age? I really think you're eating too little. I see the weight in the ticker and I would guess your calories should be around 1800-2200. Dont get scared of this number.

What do you have for exercise equipment?

Dont worry about the low carb pasta. Any grains you eat should be whole wheat.

I work out 3 to 5 times weekly on the treadmill usually aiming for atleast 2 miles....im between 5'6/5"7 and 15 actually my calorie goal is between 1200-1300 calories a day...i want to lose quite a bot of wegiht tho so i think the calories you suggested are way to high for me...im aiming to lose 2.5lbs a week...i feel that is reasonable...im not experience in traing or nutrition tho so if you have a plan that will work for me and my goal i would love to hear it!

There are two types of aerobic training (cardio) that can be performed. Steady state (which you're doing) and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). The first is what the majority of people perform and the second is much tougher, but much more beneficial. The second cant be performed by everyone, because it takes much more cardiovascular ability.

Do you have a treadmill at home, or do you use a gym?

I know the calories seem high, however the fewer calories you eat, the more fat your body holds onto. Not what you want right. The body is a great piece of adaptive equipment, and it has certain safety features. The first is what is called "starvation mode" which means that if you eat in extremely low amounts, your body will panic. Once this happens your body starts to preserve its fat and burn the muscle as fuel. This is not good because muscle burns calories. The more muscle you have (not in a bodybuilding sense but in a body fat % way) the more calories you burn per day.

I would find an online BMR calculator. Basal Metabolic Rate is the amount of calories your body needs and burns each day doing absolutely nothing. You should never eat below this amount. These calories are for your everyday functions (breathing, blood flow, etc) and are very important.

2.5lbs per week is not ideal. If you figure in how many calories that is, then we are talking about 8750 calories. It is nearly impossible to burn that many more than you intake. Dont get discouraged however. If you are new to exercising, you will see tremendous results in the beginning. After this period is when most people fail, they dont understand why they are not losing like they did when they first started.

Here is a link I would start with: John Berardi - 7 Habits

Please absorb this and contact me if you want to go further.
